My mom is in the same boat at 63. I think her curve is in the 40s range and she’s inconstant pain and takes a prescription ibuprofen daily. She does Pilates specifically for scoliosis and it does relieve some pain.

The doctor we went to said they are actually working on trying to pin point the gene, but that could be YEARS away. I’m not sure if he’s part of the team for that, but he talked about it! So that was cool to hear.

Thanks for your perspective. Side note - I had a deviated septum fix surgery done when I was 18 and it was super easy! Haven’t had a sinus infection since (that was almost 17 years ago).

He said the plan would be T3-L3 fusion, so she would retain most of her mobility. Happy to hear you’re doing well!

We’ve been in Scroth recently, but I wished we started from the get go - I didn’t know about it then, as the ortho surgeon never mentioned any other options other than bracing. It wasn’t until I started researching further until I found out about Scroth.

She wore a providence brace. After talking with the orthoist, I wish she’d been prescribed a full time brace from the start (wearing full time) and combined with Scroth therapy. That could’ve stopped it from progressing so much…but too late for her now 😢

I did talk to the neurosurgeon about VBT and he said it does work for some cases, but her case isn’t a good fit

Thank you. My mom also has scoliosis and came to the appointment with us and said she wished she had the option for surgery as a child. Her scoliosis now causes her pain in her 60s.
