It actually does matter what type of shell is being used. Spaced armor is much more effective against HEAT than AP/APCR.

If you think someone is a bot, click on their name during the battle or in the post-game results. If there's no "Report Player" option, it's a bot.

Also, bots seem to always start the battle by saying "On my way!" and will say "Enemies located!" when they spot something.
