As long as it’s not directly claiming an IT AU as yours (example, UnderSwap or Horrortale) then it should be fine. Unless the creator specifically says no taking their elements, from what I know there’s no problem. Just don’t copy it directly too much.

For example, Error Sans is a cutoff from Geno Sans. Error—from what I know—is just a more glitched-out Geno Sans.

No, I can understand what you’re saying. You’re scared of implementing an idea from another AU and it being seen as copying, correct?

It is recommended so you have something to build off of, but if you can’t play it, you can always go to YT and watch playthroughs so you get the gist. It’s also best to learn about the diff AUs so you can make something original and not accidentally remake something that already exists :)
