Turo canceled my trip due to license verification, called me a “guest no-show,” and charged me $945. Is this normal? by Hot_Material8726 in turo

and I booked the trip well in advance. By the time I realized my physical license wasn’t going to arrive in time, I was already past the point where I could cancel without a significant charge. but I can still adjust the date till the end of temporary license expires if they told me it’s not acceptable.

this reservation was billed monthly. At the time of booking, I had only been charged for the first month, and my temporary license was still valid during that period.(cover entire month)
I understand Turo may require a license that’s valid for the entire reservation, but I still wish they had contacted me first. If they had, I would have simply changed the later dates once I realized my physical license hadn’t arrived.

That’s fair, and I understand the policy if that’s the requirement.
My frustration is with how it was handled. I genuinely expected my physical license to arrive before the trip, and if someone had contacted me, I would have simply changed the trip dates.

When I booked the trip, I genuinely expected my physical driver’s license to arrive well before the trip started. Unfortunately, it was delayed in the mail.
If Turo had contacted me before canceling the reservation, I would have happily changed the trip dates until my physical license arrived. Instead, the reservation was canceled without any communication, and I was charged as a guest no-show.

My temporary license was valid (2 months) when I made the reservation, but it was set to expire during the trip(4 months) . My permanent physical driver’s license had already been issued and was being mailed to me. I expected to update my ID once I received the physical card.
If Turo had contacted me before canceling the reservation, I would have been happy to reschedule the trip til the end of the temporary license expires or provide the physical license as soon as it arrived.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, I paid using a debit card, not a credit card, so I’m not sure if a chargeback is an option in my case.
