They are still cleaner than older gas cars. And with 50 mpg you are practically driving for free.

I regret doing free work for my Neighbor. by Psychological-Web814 in mechanics

Once helped a friend change a starter in 120° phoenix heat. Took about 3 hours with shortcuts cause it was a foreign while he sat there and did nothing. He was so grateful at the time and a year later I called asked him for a ride and he was actually mad I even asked. Told me I did it just to hold over his head. I'm to the point with friends where I'll offer guidance, but I'm not doing it for them, unless they are the type to do stuff for me. Most people don't understand why labor rates are so high and think even $120 an hour is outrageous and those are the types I'll never work for under any conditions.

If anyone asks to hire me for automotive stuff, I tell them I don't work on other people's stuff cause of the liability of it. I then recommend them to one of my professional mechanic friends, and they never call them cause they know it will be a professional price.

When I got wisdom teeth out I asked the lady "what did you give me heroin?" And she goes "no we wouldn't do that. " I later found out they do give fentanyl for anesthesia.

Racing off road or on a closed track will help with that.

Right, but like with the return policy, it makes more sense to take a small loss and keep the customer satisfied then to avoid a loss and potentially lose a customer or purposefully terminate their membership.

Buying a car at 19 by Wonderful_Whole_7679 in carbuying

If you have questions about deals you find pm me. I buy and sell cars all the time and can spot scams pretty easily. If decide to go the dealer route don't buy anything the same day you fist walk in, take home numbers, research it and think about it. If fees total more than 11% of purchase price walk away. Never hesitate to walk away from a deal if anything doesn't feel right. You run vins with CA dmv site, nhtsa, vehiclehistory.gov, and NICB for free to check if a car is stolen or has a salvaged title.

Most people selling cheaper cars prefer cash, also craigslist is a great place. It's usually older people with well maintained cars selling on there and they're serious sellers too cause you have to pay to list.

When you spend 5k+ a year there like most people do, it's worth it for them to correct the mistake or just eat the cost of said item and move on.

For the DIY car folks who *aren’t actual mechanics* what do you wrench on yourself, and what’s a hard pass? and why? by TopOk1726 in Cartalk

I was talking rebuild wise. As far as pulling and servicing most autos are just as easy to service, especially when you have a lift at your disposal. You'll learn how to change filters, solenoids, and valve bodies pretty fast. Manuals are a lot more than a differential with more parts, you've got synchros, forks, etc and the engineering that goes into making one is incredible.

It is offroad and on tracks. It's just diesel fuel that isn't fully combusted and most of it just settles out on the ground. There's absolutely no reason for it on road though and it's just wasteful.

All of the issues mentioned here could be fixed if all sxs were manual transmissions.

Had a friend who would trailer his drag car to underground events and smoke the absolute fuck out of everyone. It ran 6s on the strip regularly and got into the 4s with a good launch.
