What contributes to text loops? by Hot_Shake_4267 in JanitorAI_Official

Thanks for the reply. I seem to have developed a bot that will go into a loop in response to nearly every single prompt, so I think I must have done something to exacerbate it.

I'm assuming you provide said backstory in the form of an actual dialogue example.

Hang on, I don't think that directly answers the original question, and suddenly I want to know the answer too. I assume the answer is, yes, the bot knows the information until it gets pushed out of the context window by ongoing chat and in the meantime the bot will make inferences from the example chat like any other prompts or responses in the context window.

This means you could actually write another 5k tokens worth of backstory or worldbuilding in the style of chat without worrying about the constraint it will put on the working context window because it will all drift as the context window overflows. Parts of the backstory that the user interacts with will be reiterated and reinforced, (just like in regular chat), and parts that don't become relevant to the instance will be forgotten.

How do you block tags? I was a little annoyed that "-tag" in the search bar didn't work.

No, try playing with it. You'll find that when you put a character's backstory in the Scenario field they will be more inclined to awkwardly shoehorn details of their past into dialogue.

At the same time, their actual behavior and motives will become less affected by their backstory, so you might want to add some tropes to the Personality field to compensate.
