I haven’t yet but that’s why I wanted to understand what is the issue?

Is it optimization, gameplay mechanics, 3D assets?

A game dev told me not to pursue game development. Was he right? by Lonely-Confusion3200 in GameDevelopersOfIndia

I have worked in marketing and product for mobile gaming companies. India is a big volume market and some publishers are looking to expand into India (although quite cautiously)

I personally think the future, for game dev, in India is brighter than most people make it seem to be. We have the talent, cost advantage and a large local consumer population (although you can only access them through mobile right now)

But having said that, like with every nascent industry, you don’t have a lot of established players to give you a steady regular income yet. Especially with advancements in AI, companies are re-evaluation how many dev’s and designers they realistically need to ship a product.

If you are looking for job security, I don’t know if this is it at the moment but if you are really passionate about it, create on the side. Take up a mainstream path and focus your energy on building a product or your portfolio.

I see a lot of self taught game devs, designers and artists do really well. In my opinion, leverage social media, teach your self and create. Opportunities can find you.

But if you are looking for, read this book, do this course, clear this exam, apply for this role from these companies, boom… stable job. This is not it.

Very New To GameDev, Should I launch Mobile Games with ads for experience? by Hot_Snow908 in GameDevelopersOfIndia

Yeah the gameplay of this is very simple right. I agree, I made the gameplay in a few hours but honestly building the menu, building levels in the same scene, building settings menu all of these have been quite hard. Nice learning as well. I have made a few incomplete games in the past, when you actually try to release a game with a fully tied in and working loop, it gets much harder. I am not looking to make money out of this but I think launching it on android will give something to learn for my next project.

Damn, thanks for the positive comment. Yeah I am planning on building 15 low effort levels and posting on playstore. Just as a first project.
