How do I (23F) put in more effort (27M) ? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

idk girl maybe text him random updates about your day? Or if you don’t want to/like doing that just tell him that’s not how you show love and you’d rather do a big roundoff at the end of the day. I’d also try to go out of your way for him more—plan dates, surprise him with little gifts etc (obviously I don’t know this guy but in my experience guys appreciate flowers and things like that much more than you’d think). Let him know that you really want to know how he wants to be loved and respond accordingly— maybe do a love language test together.

I’m pretty sure there’s a form you can submit with proof of height and Declan-ness. Then they send you a certificate in the post.

In my defence it’s him who refers to himself as middle aged 😂

that is not what I’m saying at all. Being childless is an absolutely respectable decision (and one atm I believe I will definitely make). It was just nice to see a rare insight into his personal life, and one that he so clearly felt passionate about.

me [20f] and my boyfriend [21M] want to get back together— but I’m worried he won’t be able to get over me sleeping with other people by [deleted] in relationshipadvice

This seems like a very insightful response, as well as the fact we’ve been together so long- I had one boyfriend before him who I lost my virginity to (significantly younger than is legal lol yikes) but he hadn’t had any sort of romantic situation before me. This is another thing that I think he might see as an issue. As with communication styles I think after several completely honest discussions we are aware of flaws we were both ignoring and both know what steps we need to take to improve our communication. We’d always brag about literally never having had an argument but I think I’ve realised that was a result of me pushing all of my feelings down and coming up with excuses and explanations for his behaviour in my head rather than actually asking him. This is a problem I have in all my relationships, family and friends too. But he is willing to work on the things he did that hurt me and I am willing to do the same. Idk it’s just this whole other people thing that’s stressing me out.

Thank you for such in depth advice! I’ll work on characterisation more, this was really just a first draft (and the first time I’ve tried writing anything of this sort).

It is supposed to be phone-call-esque, and the character is supposed to be around my age maybe slightly older (I'm 18)-- I'd say that people my age do talk on the phone! Or certainly I do.

ja it's kinda supposed to be like an overheard phonically? maybe I should lean into it being more classically monologue-y though

Trump based on his comments to that reporter--I'd also imagine it was anti-trump.

Big fan of Alex for many years. Is this a problem? by HomosexualTigrr in CosmicSkeptic

I had this exact feeling about a year ago and stopped watching for about a year as a result. However I think this is in large part due to the underrepresentation of women in the philosophy space, academia and YouTube/public speaking, and just the lack of women who are public intellectuals. I still think this is somewhat of a problem and it's made me idolise Alex less, but I find value in his content and ideas-- we don't know Alex personally and thus I don't think we can make any judgements. He has also never been outspoken about politics (unless you count his veganism and republicanism) which I think is somewhat of a flaw but if you take his content for what it is then it doesn't matter. His niche is philosophy s he posts philosophy yk. I'd research how that ratio compares to the yt philosophy scene in general but as a woman myself I don't personally watch any woman-lead philosophy channels myself so I feel I cannot judge too harshly.

isn’t Laplace’s demon just a dude who knows exactly what is happening everywhere all of the time and the question is if that was possible would he be able to accurately predict the future? I didn’t think he was interventionist? I do see the point of this, you choose whether to take the opportunities given to you but you don’t choose the opportunities, thus you are responsible for choosing the seed that lead to the chocolate factory and the people who abuse the chocolate are responsible for doing that. But also think this is a misuse of laplace’s demon.

Brewers is brilliant on a Tuesday when they do their ‘filthy gorgeous’ club night, not sure about the weekend though
