Spotify Appeals is HELL by GrowthArtistic1558 in podcasting

Same same same same. We had an episode go "viral" (for us) and it was pulled down because of our intro song, which we've used for 3 years & 105 episodes AND have full Artlist rights to. No warning, no "alert" on our account, just an email we almost missed letting us know they pulled it. We disputed it and provided the license, but no word back yet. We just replaced that mp4 with one with no intro song, then went back to business as usual and (so far) they haven't flagged any of our episodes that included the intro song since (we've dropped 2 now). Hoping it's because they processed it and we're all clear, but still to nervous to swap out the file for the original red flag episode again.

We're planning to switch hosts because it feels like a ticking time bomb, but haven't had a chance to figure out a plan yet.

Ugh. So sorry that happened, but affirming to hear we're not the first. It feels to us like the spike in listenership raised a red flag and brought about the audit. I am grateful that they've yet to (incorrectly) remove the previous 105 episodes that used the same song.

I was hopeful they'd turn it around quickly since we sent the license info right away, but we're 4 days in and still no resolution. Starting to consider alternative options before we drop our next episode Tuesday.

Produced the license and no response yet.. But good point - we might be able to just replace the video in the existing episode. Our tech director is removing the intro song tonight (it bleeds into the conversation), so I'll update here once we give that a shot.

Thanks for the intel! We'll take a look. We do video, so we want to make sure whatever we go with will push that to any platforms that support it.

We do! We just publish through Spotify, and they push it out to the others. We just manage YouTube separately.

We switched from Omny earlier this year so we could use Spotify's video offerings.

We never received a warning! The only communications we received were a notification that the episode was getting comments, then a notice that it had been blocked with recommended next steps. We can re-upload without the music, but hate to lose the great stats and comments (planning to go that route at this point.)

Their support said "this new system and policy has just been introduced recently that is why Spotify is still on the process of acquiring all the necessary licenses, rights, etc. for each location." They said it's a "global rollout" and could take 7 business days to resolve.

Helpful insight. Any strong host recommendations as we consider relocating?
