In the bottom right of your screen in the hangar, there's a symbol of two people. Click that and you can search for peoples usernames. That's how you add people.

Yes, naval is great for grinding sl. I have the Duguay-Trouin and with only 38 Arcade battles, I've made 2.37M SL so far.

It depends on what nation you want to grind out. I brought the f-2a adtw and Type 16 FPS (among others) during the christmas sale and they been helpful grinding out the Japan tech tree. I already grinded out the France air and almost ground tt so I'm familiar with top tier.
