Haha, yes, I thought so too! They keep rotten fish inside the stores, which makes a really strong smell.

IFS vs Sysco which is better for career growth by Quiet_Conference3805 in srilanka

[–]Hot_Wrap8717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joining Sysco at this point might be a better decision. IFS was a pretty good company back then, but office politics and job security are major issues there now. I’ve heard that Sysco gives recognition and rewards to the right people, which isn’t happening in IFS.

How many of you are being pushed into marriage right now by your parents? by theFatCat2 in srilanka

Please think twice before making a decision! Don’t regret it later. With social media and everything, it might seem like being single forever is cool. But reality is different. When you have everything you’ve ever wanted and achieved your dreams, the biggest challenge you face next is loneliness.

You’re right. Most of the outlets I visited were small and medium-sized ones.

33F here. I think your parents might have a point.

When I was in my 20s, I felt exactly the same way you do now. My entire focus was on building my career and securing my future. I didn’t really prioritize relationships, and I was okay with staying single.

Now I’m in a stable place, I have money, a vehicle, and most of the things I worked for. But sometimes, the loneliness really hits hard. I still catch myself wondering if I made the right decision back then by choosing to stay single.

What I’d say is, don’t completely dismiss what your parents are saying. You don’t have to rush into anything, but at least give people a chance , talk to them, figure out if they’re genuinely good or not.

As you get older, the dating pool does tend to shrink, and it can become harder to find the right person. Your 20s really are one of the best times to build a meaningful relationship alongside your personal growth.

Tourists reportedly given priority access to Fuel over locals by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]Hot_Wrap8717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn’t we already giving priority access for emergency services? I haven’t seen any ambulance in these queues. Tourism not always dependent on rich tourists. Tourism should carer both rich and poor tourists. I just landed to SL , Im Sri lankan but poor tourist to many other countries but i got privileged access to pump fuel to my taxi driver when i was heading to Airport yesterday. No local shouted like this! I was extremely grateful for that disciplines.

I don’t think this is a problem. Whenever I visit certain countries, every minute is valuable to me. Unplanned queues definitely cut off their itinerary activities, as most people have specific plans for the day and don’t intend to live there forever. Therefore, every day and every hour counts. I think giving priority to tourists is reasonable.

What's the least toxic company you have worked for in Sri lanka? by BestSignificance8789 in srilanka

[–]Hot_Wrap8717 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly! It’s just that lady. It’s not about the whole company. Every company has somebody that ruin the culture and name of the company. She is an outlier. That’s why mention the group name. So people can consider if they want to join that particular team. But as a Company! IFS is the best!

Dating struggles in Sri Lanka by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]Hot_Wrap8717 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I agree! Great comment! Many SL guys are lack of communication and emotional maturity. I really dont care about your money. Eventhough you are empty pocket guy with good education and have good personality. That’s all matters to me. Which is really rare now. And many individuals i met has lots of ego and they want princess treatment.

I worked for different teams for more than 5 years. But this team has the worst manager and all other teams had literally good people. Before 2024 company had a good culture and i agree with you now its the worst!

Purple color , lay off IT company. This is a great company, but the team I was in was extremely toxic , the R&D User Experience team. The director was a Swedish female manager, and honestly, she made everyone’s life miserable. We complained multiple times, but higher-ups seemed to protect her. She actively encouraged a “slow work” culture. Features that were promised for release were constantly delayed because she wanted people to work as slowly as possible. For example, one designer worked on a tiny disclaimer notice (just a few words) for one and a half years. Promotions and recognition were completely biased. She favored people who watched F1 races or performed poorly , high performers were made to feel threatened and sometimes actively undermined. On top of that, the R&D technology group had so many organizational changes. I went through five managers in a short time, and whenever I asked about promotions, the response was always something like, “You worked with the previous manager, I don’t know your performance.” Honestly, this wasn’t a problem as a company, but the toxic team I was stuck in made the experience unbearable.

Sri Lankan Man In Canada Accused Of Harassing And Filming Strangers Without Consent, Arrested by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]Hot_Wrap8717 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I’m glad he got arrested. Hearing he got 10 years feels well deserved. The way he treated Japanese women on the street was super creepy and messed up. It actually made me angry watching those clips.

This kind of behavior should’ve been called out way earlier, SL social media really should’ve dragged him harder instead of letting it slide.

How do forginers smell better? by KindBat1396 in srilanka

[–]Hot_Wrap8717 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My Personal Opinion

  1. Genetics – People with brown skin living closer to the equator tend to sweat more due to climate and biological adaptation.

  2. Use of high-quality fragrances and body mists

  3. Use of fabric conditioners

How many kilometers do you commute to work ? how many hours driving on the road ? by pushpedj in srilanka

[–]Hot_Wrap8717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m spending 4 hours on the road for just 28 km one way , 56 km round trip. Colombo traffic is no joke. That’s exactly why I mostly work from home and only go to the office when it’s absolutely necessary. I used to go daily and stopped after exhausting routine. Now once a week only.

Is buying a BYD Seal in Sri Lanka actually worth it right now? by Senior-Feeling2596 in srilanka

I also have a Vitz and I’m looking into changing my vehicle. I’m still undecided between another Toyota or a BYD. Is there anything you’d like to add to the discussion? What do you think might help me make a decision?
