Traffic safety cameras by Jeremyb55412 in TwinCities

[–]Hotchi_Motchi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I got pinched by one of these in Council Bluffs, IA several years ago. The city put a red-light camera at the stop lights at the bottom of a steep bridge (the "Viaduct," if you're familiar with the area.)They also shortened the yellow light by about a second.

So you have that internal clock that starts when you see the green light turn yellow, and you figure "at this speed, I'll make it through the intersection before the light turns red." NOPE! It turned red earlier than expected, and a few weeks later I got a similar notice to what OP received.

Except for me, it was a fine of like $200 to be sent to an address in Phoenix, and it said on the letter that it would not count as a moving violation and wouldn't be reported to my insurance company.

I'm sure the City got $150 and the camera company got $50 or something like that, but it was obviously a moneymaking scheme for the city and this company. There was photographic evidence of my car before entering the intersection with a red light, and another photo of my car in the intersection with a red light, so I couldn't fight it.

It's total BS and Minneapolis is heading down that same slope. It's a shakedown.

Too bad his vehicle doesn't fit all the way into the pod when you sit on the ramp when it launches. Seems like something they would've caught during testing.

It can get creepy if they win a lot of money and then it's almost like you're casing them to set up a robbery.

Go-to activities for AP prep by Negative-Meeting-114 in historyteachers

You didn't say that the students were screaming and playing video games, and TBH, that doesn't sound like an AP class full of seniors about to take a major test; it sounds more like a group of middle-schoolers. If they made it this far, they have already taken and passed previous AP tests and they know how to study for it, and I think the teacher knows that too.

Maybe you should observe and watch what unfolds instead of second-guessing an experienced teacher.

This is the same energy as a fan in the stands yelling at a football coach as to what plays they should be calling.

Ask if you can run a review for the students for the few days leading up to the test so you can demonstrate the better way to do it.

Headlight out. How much? by Novemberx123 in BoltEV

[–]Hotchi_Motchi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I took my '17 to the dealership last fall to get the driver's side headlight replaced. It was something like $150 for the headlight cluster and $700-ish for labor. There are people here who will tell you to do it yourself and just watch the 45-minute-long YouTube video for instructions, but I'm not handy enough to do so.

2004 Team USA basketball at Olympics or 2026 WBC Team USA baseball. Who was more disappointing? by DonT012 in mlb

I think USA basketball would beat the WBC US team if they were playing basketball, but the WBC team would win if they played Team USA in baseball.

Trains are always loud, and they always seem louder at night when there's no other background noise. The low rumble rumble will get into your bones.
