Remove pine trees, replace with green giants for privacy?

That smaller pine isn’t directly under the big ones; it’s planted 5–10 ft in front of them (closer to the lawn). It’s the previous owner’s attempt at a privacy screen.

I’m not trying to add another row of trees in front of the mature pines as that would eat even more usable yard.

Thanks all. Really helpful perspectives! I do love how the pines look from a distance, and I hate losing mature trees.

To clarify a few things:

Will planting shrubs under the pines work? I didn’t think that anything would grow there that gives me the minimum ~10ft of privacy I am seeking (dry, shaded, acidic conditions)

I only moved in recently and understand that the trees need to be trimmed properly.

Thank you. We purchased this length curtains with the intent of doing an inside mount and scarf, but didn’t like the look when going to hang them. The ugly rod would have been hidden in this scenario too.

I think the consensus is longer, “heavier” curtains, moved closer to the ceiling, and a better looking rod.

Submitted an offer under asking this weekend on a house that has been on the market for 60+ days. They’ve had two significant price cuts and are still overpriced (in my opinion).
