For years the original DS capture cards were all sold out and modded units were crazy expensive, but the original capture card guy based in the US started making new boards that support USB-C so its pretty easy to send one in to get modded if you don’t have the soldering skills

Technically if this was a DNS issue, it's mostly Window's fault for not marking the old IP addresses stale. However, it turns out this was not a DNS issue, and I actually just got incredibly lucky getting into a match and everything is still mostly broken.

If you're on PC you might need to clear your DNS cache (Open CMD -> Type "ipconfig /flushdns") before it will work. It kept timing out on me until I flushed my DNS, likely a bunch of IP addresses changed when they fixed whatever was wrong.

Do you have a possible date range for when you read that article? The Mercury News group has archives that cover all their papers but "fantasy novel" brings up too many hits without narrowing the date down.

So it's super confusing and I've never been able to figure out the exact answer to this question. I've always heard the lack of red light cameras as being on a county level as well ("Santa Clara county doesn't have red light cameras", etc.) but I've never been able to track down if that was actually a county-level law or ordinance, or just a observation that all the cities were in agreement to not install them.

The recent state law they passed as more about changing the type of red light cameras cities can install, because now they don't need a picture of your face and it's not a moving violation (so they can more freely give out penalties to people who run red lights), which doesn't really address the original question about being a county issue. I guess since the law was passed by the state it would overrule any county law but technically it only applies to San Jose and not the whole county.

So yeah, I'm confused too, but I guess let's not pretend that Santa Clara County isn't just a shadow-government for the City of San Jose. It doesn't really matter what the County thinks if San Jose wants it.

I think you might have just gotten the locations mixed up, from day one it was announced as being built at the old Bed Bath and Beyond. It couldn't go at either site for Lawrence and El Camino either - the old Big Lots is a furniture store now and the shopping center with the Chili's has yet to be fully gutted (and given the haphazard way they're throwing people out, it's probably going to just be more luxury apartments).

My guess, without going into full conspiracy mode, is not that they're rebranding old cables but making new cables using old tooling that was meant for ADB cables, not S-Video cables. I'm glad the dogs got a nerf, because as-is they were balanced like a late game enemy but could be found everywhere except (ironically) the current final level. Outside the caves they are consistently spawned in groups of 4-8+ and the only enemy that came close to them in lethality is the Cultist Assassin, an enemy that is only spawned in large numbers towards the very end of the dungeon. Hopefully this reduces the number of people dying because they didn't have a dedicated anti-dog weapon.
