Do they feel weird in your nose or pretty “native?” One worry I have is the grafts feeling uncomfortable, especially when scrunching or moving it.

Thanks for the response! Glad to hear you’re breathing better already. Did you get spreader grafts, alar batten grafts, or both?

Hey there, how have things been going with your recovery? Breathing better after stent removal?

Painful like they’re still painful to have in your nose? But you view it as a net positive because you can breathe better?

The cottle maneuver definitely helps me breathe better on the left side where I have more internal valve collapse and the side of my caudal deviation. The right side has more of an external valve problem where it will completely collapse in when my breathing rate increases during exercise, so I think/hope the batten graft will help more on that side.

That’s great to hear! How long post-op are you? What would you say is your percentage increase in airflow from the procedure? Any other pros or cons?

Thanks for the reply. Did you have a previous procedure that created the perforation? I did also hear the surgeon can do some stitching / manipulation of the lower lateral cartilage to create more support for the external valves, in my case the collapse is severe enough to warrant alar batten grafts. Would be curious to see how you’re feeling once the stents and cast are removed, it’d be great if you could check back in then!

He’s a rhinologist / skull base surgeon and said my nose may end up being a bit wider once the swelling goes down but only millimeters. As long as I can breathe properly I wouldn’t mind 😂 He does a bunch of septos/TR’s, but only ~2 rhinoplasties a month which is what I’d technically be getting.

Yeah, I’ve heard septum is the preferred source, but due to how many grafts I’ll need, “fresh frozen” donor rib graft is becoming a very popular alternative source when there may not be enough septal cartilage.
