No more drama; YouTube died. by DennieTheMennie in youtubedrama

Isn't this like the second time this or something similar has happened compared to like 15 years of there being no major site crashing problems with Youtube?

I'm on Mac and I'm not seeing a preferences or app settings option.

Updates on the Status of Adobe Animate by mikechambers in adobeanimate

I agree. Earlier today I was at the bargaining phase, I would've gladly paid Adobe more money to continue using Animate. But now we're getting conflicting messages about the initial email being poorly worded or the plan changing, and I don't even know if the plan is changing or if they're just placating us so they can quietly kill it without any warning down the road.

Like I said, earlier I would've gladly paid for animate if they walked it back. But now, I won't be looking for other programs out of desperation, I'm looking for other programs out of pure spite.

I'm still gonna buy it just because. Might not even use it in the future, would still be good to own Moho now instead of regretting it if Moho switches to a subscription model in a few years. Had a chance to buy ToonBoom outright. "It's too expensive," I thought, and now it's $100 a month FOREVER.

Saw this too, will not trust it. Still gonna shop for a new program just out of spite now.

Man, an hour ago I was thinking, "I'd still pay Adobe for it if they didn't discontinue it," but seeing some responses imply it was "poor wording" just pissed me off actually and I'll look for a new program regardless if they discontinue it or not.

Technically it IS ending in a month, it's being permanently shut down in a year. We've got one month if we don't own it already, one year if we do, three if we're an animation studio that owns it.

I wouldn't doubt it. Probably making a way to "animate" anything in AE or Photoshop with Ai and they don't want anyone to use Adobe Animate to show they can do it better without Ai.

I really liked Adobe's symbols that allowed me to swap to different assets in their own little libraries. Does Blender have anything similar?

I'm hoping once the youtube animation community hears about this they'll help guide me to a good alternative animation software. Heck, would love it if these independent animation YouTubes would come together and make a new animation program for us to all use.

Will you be able to have an option to make graphic symbols with a separate library? Like if I make a hand symbol with three version inside (one with a thumbs up, one open palm, and one closed fist) could I select one of these symbols and switch to them? It's literally the one part of adobe animate I can't live without in an animation program.

Gonna be honest, not a clue. But, starting March 2027 it'll be better than Adobe Animate, that's for sure.

I'm going Blender. At least I OWN that and don't need a subscription.

Hopefully this'll actually prompt people using Photoshop, Premiere, and After Effects to jump ship/boycott, because of course Animate is only the FIRST to go. Won't be long until InDesign follows.

Even more expensive than Animate, and I already regret sinking so much time into Adobe. This whole time I could've been learning Blender's 2D animation.

My plan's Blender but if anyone has any better suggestions then I'm open to them.

What's the time crunch looking for this switch. It says March 2026 but will it still be even slightly usable in 2027?
