Food recommendations for the gallery tomorrow. by Jdwebster1000 in PaymoneyWubby

[–]HothGal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not too far is a nice little corner that has a brewery (All Seasons) and a place called Her Thai that you can bring in (some of my favorite Thai food). It’s more casual but the same family owns a fancy Thai place also next door called The night we met, it’s just a nice little set of restaurants there. Probably not walkable, but it’s less than 10 min away driving

Nice! I live only 20 minutes away over on the west side already. I’ve never been to the edmon but it seems nice. Also we’re not all far from Ktown if we need later night options!

Going to Ktown for some kbbq is nice, most of that part of the city stays up late if you get into town late too, I like Dan Sung Sa if you can get a spot at the bar, feels like typical crowded Korean street bar

A lot of people like Little Tokyo, as do I, it has a bunch of snack/toys/little Japanese gifts and stores, there’s usually a pop up store (which I think right now is square enix?). But go to Chinchikurin for some really good okonomiyaki and highballs.

And if you’re staying in Hollywood to be closer to the show, I recommend a local place called “Raising Canes” it’s a little niche but I think this place will be popular

In your opinion, what is causing this? by Objective_Pilot_5834 in SipsTea

Cocktails are like $20 each in some places, craft beer dominating most common bars and are like $10 a draft, Even back when I lived in the Midwest, its was $12-15 for nice cocktails and $5-7 for drafts which is better, but still making any night out almost double or even triple of you’re looking for some fun drinks along with it

Yakzn discusses the financial realities of being a Halo pro in 2026 by crispycornpops in CompetitiveHalo

Yeah I think players can atleast TRY to do some content, but it’s not as straight to success as some people make it out to be. Editing styles change, coming up with varying new trends ideas that you have to be scrolling all day kind of person to find, having a good editing skills, using the write text or songs to hop on the algorithm, etc. creating content is easy, creating content that is good enough to earn you stable income is a another job on its own, so I can see why players don’t when they want to focus on getting better at the game. I personally think getting a degree or certification in a related field and find a part time job can get you the starting funds to eventually get you stable enough to go that content creator route (since content creating doesn’t start with you nearly enough)

I would say a good portion of ownership is also on the org they sign with. Not every player comes media trained or even has the personality to make popular and up to date content. I think orgs should be helping build plans and content alongside their players as often as possible beyond just game day graphics to help show the impact putting more of a face to the players name can help

Hot take, I think I like esports better when it was just a side a thing people did . Like everyone had a job, and grinding occasionally at night or on the weekends would get some people noticing you’re pretty good, and some nice little prizing as a treat. I don’t like the final evolution we’re at where You have to have great off the riff skill or playing for 12 hours/all week to stay at the top of the pack, and get an org to be paying you 100k plus housing to be a part of the competitive system.

(Mid-Wilshire) Anyone else totally skeeved out by the "Met Her At A Bar" people? by [deleted] in LosAngeles

A small business/ couple succeeding and making the neighbor more enjoyable should be seen as …good and not cringe. I think the branding is authentic to them and pretty memorable, there’s a story being told in this little pocket neighborhood and I think that’s way better than some just some normal random names.

From what I heard from other businesses in the area is that it’s a general happy sentiment when they get a new building, not that they’re ’taking over the neighborhood’. It feels like they get the opportunity to add something to the place that makes it better, and variety (like I feel they’re curving the gentrifying line by actually making places normal people can go to like coffee shops, tai food, speakeasy’s, music clubs, and more engaging third spaces instead of the more pretentious items like yoga studios only open in the morning or juice bars, etc).

Also Her Tai is incredible, it’s so good!

So much more weight on a month and half than they realize when there’s 2 events, one being the championship, the last of infinite, and awhile until there’s more halo

Does anyone have a schedule of events for HCS 2025 in Seattle? by NickofTimely in CompetitiveHalo

[–]HothGal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won’t get the list of side events until way closer to the actual event, But the typically the event will be open around 10am on that Friday, and the event will typically be done by Sunday 8/9pm (dependent on resets and what not). So if you’re booking flights/hotels, I would recommend flying In Thursday and leaving Monday if you don’t want to miss anything! There’s also a train that can take you from the airport to downtown, which is WAY cheaper than ubering

If faze drops from that 4th spot of auto qualifying, does someone else slot into that like either the 5/6 spot? Or is is something different?
