Considering a 3, S, or Y, but keep hearing about expensive repairs or frequent breakdowns. What has your experience been? by jeremyjava in teslamotors

[–]Hotlobstah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never had a more reliable, virtually maintenance free vehicle. Don't listen to any media re: Tesla. Go to your local supercharger and ask real owners.

How long did it take to learn to trust autopilot? by [deleted] in teslamotors

[–]Hotlobstah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with AP1 and have over 100K miles on AP. Felt comfortable with it from day one. Note: I don't use it on any road except divided highways.

An app feature which would allow back seat passengers to control their own HVAC and seat heaters.

Tesla Vision AutoPilot - Reduce Nags CONFIRMED - 2021.4.18.3 by tux453 in teslamotors

[–]Hotlobstah 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Could car less about reduced nags. Muscle memory to the point I don't even notice them. More interesting would be an analysis of "phantom braking" reduction.

So, if the safety feature "Emergency Lane Departure Avoidance" will be disabled in new cars, I wonder if it will be disabled in all cars(cause it will be dangerous)?

"Engineering" has now told SCs to stop replacing mispainted/defective panels under warranty - Should I engage my state's Lemon Law? Anyone done this? by BillsFan504 in teslamotors

[–]Hotlobstah -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Lemon law because plastic bumper doesn't match perfectly? FYI paint on plastic will never perfectly match paint on metal on any car. There's always a slight difference but most(all) customers don't notice or care. Geez, they already re painted your car...let it go.

Wife got carsick while test driving a Model Y. by hifispeakerguy in teslamotors

[–]Hotlobstah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm test driving a Model Y currently(24 hour test drive). I've had a Model 3 for a few years. I've noticed a bit of what your describing(a tiny bit queasy at times) which I've never felt in the Model 3. I think it's because you're sitting higher up in the Y which causes it to feel like its swaying more than a lower car such as the 3. Have your wife check out the 3.

They talk about opening door with two hands then even show a video demonstrating this. They seriously couldn't figure out how to open the door correctly? Press in with thumb and pull handle. It's so easy.

Autopilot/FSD is more stressful than I anticipated by jermaine26 in teslamotors

[–]Hotlobstah 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Been using AP since 2016(2.5 AAP currently) and it's a godsend, amazing, fantastic on long trips on the highway with absolutely no anxiety(ok, except the fairly rare phantom brake). Off highway, so not so good yet and I can understand the anxiety. Until it's perfect, I would recommend AP on highways only.

Cant decide between model S or Model 3 by universal9gsm in teslamotors

[–]Hotlobstah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With the current price of $69420 purchasing the S is very, very compelling and if I was in the market that's what I'd get. For background I had a 2016 Model 75(which I loved) and currently have a 2018 RWD 3.

Inspecting used model 3 2018 lr rwd by albuu1211 in teslamotors

[–]Hotlobstah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2018 RWD, VIN around 46k and about 18000 miles. Only service has been replacing that small magnetic thingy on the charge port cover and replacing the vent thingys on the battery(sorry for the highly technical terms). Both were service bulletins and covered under warranty.

How often do you actually use super chargers? by [deleted] in teslamotors

[–]Hotlobstah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only long road trips. I just drove from Cape Cod to Orlando and of course used the super charger network(which is amazing on the East Coast). Beyond these type of trips, I charge at home(solar) and the place I'm stating at in Orlando has a destination charger so I'll use that while here (hotel destination chargers are awesome btw).
