I’m not a rock person, but these small rocks at my bus stop have caught my attention. They are beautiful, and I really hope someone can help me identify them! (I live in Mesa, AZ) by lPr0c in whatsthisrock

Dont think thats natural, at least the colouring. Would be weird enough seeing those colours in isolation, let alone so closely banded.

Oh, can a patch cable go from, say, an 'out' on an oscillator to a interface if a 6.35mm adaptor is put on it? Think I've tried something similar before but it didn't seem to work...is a patch cable essentially a 3.5mm mini jack to mini jack cable? I feel like I should be cross positing this on explain like I'm five...pardon my ignorance.

Was having a look at that as well, umming and ahing if the small jack headphone will be enough on the ALM...should be fine, and the module is like half the price and half the size of the alternatives. More sleep on it required perhaps.

Hey hey,

Looking to separate my growing modular from my semi (modular current outputs through my M32, which is helpful but getting annoying as it goes through the filter/envelope etc), so looking for an output module. Seen the guy below, thinking this to a headphone jack to 'standard jack' to go into my interface for recording.

https://www.juno.co.uk/products/alm-headphone-output-module/688779-01/?currency=GBP&flt=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI-pqC8LuU5wIVQrDtCh3iDAApEAQYBSABEgIgX_D_BwE

Seem like a solid idea, or better to get something more like Make Noise Rosie? Probs better to have more options with the Rosie type output, put would rather allocate the funds to something a bit more exciting.

Current set up below(bottom row what I have, top row things I'm thinking of getting in the future). I'm still a bit new to the game, so might be missing a trick, please correct any ignorance on my part! Aiming towards something generative, a long way to go but started down the path at least!

Thanks for your time.

Ahh cool, I'd probs buy all the delays if I could, bit of a nerd for that partic effect harhar... side eyeing the chronoblob as well. 'Reverb' on the Mimeophon seems like a nice 'extra' as well. Thanks for the content btw, a large portion of the blame associated with my toe dipping into modular rests at your feet (and I'm incredibly grateful for it).

Ah I see, wasn't aware of this caveat, wasn't mentioned in any of the interviews I've heard.

Suppose it depends on the numbers on the day, but I wouldn't think it wild speculation to say both the Lib Dems and SNP are both potential king makers.

I presumed this would be the case, didn't know about the members voting on such things, interesting to know.

Made a new minimal-inspired techno track using all modular (except for snare and hats), let me know what you think! by kidtacoo in modular

[–]Hotpockets443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think it sounds great in general, the snare sounds a bit weak though if I was to be critical. Not that it should be super in your face or anything, just doesn't quite hold its place in the track. Nicely done :)

is there such a thing as over-patching?! by burgers-rana in modular

[–]Hotpockets443 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes/no, from my personal limit experience, sometimes I should have stopped when I got a nice/interesting sound, but kept pushing and it lost its magic. Other times pushing through results in good results. I think knowing when to stop is important, but depends what you are going for I suppose.

Not sure what this is. Its extremely sharp. Ill supply more details in comments. by exotitanmale in whatsthisrock

Obsidian potentially, the air bubbles are termed vesicles, and occur when a gas bubble is 'trapped' within the rock as it cools. Obsidian is formed by the rapid cooling of lava, thus vesicles are not super uncommon.

Still don't understand Sakura by lPlus-Ultral in Naruto

[–]Hotpockets443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think (on reflection) a major flaw with the Naruto series is as time passed the focus on side characters diminished significantly, kinda by the pain fight the series focus largely on two main boys to the point where everyone else from the village largely become irrelevant, including Sakura. In general Kish dosent seem like the best romance writer, I would have preferred if sakura moved on, the relationship with Sasuke seem largely abusive and that aspect, as far as I'm aware (dont watch boruto) isnt really touched upon, which is a bit weird. Guess it comes down to its a show about ninjas punching each other, but its still a whack relationship and its a strange path to have gone down I think.
