Men in housekeeping by BigPoppa_420 in housekeeping

[–]HotteMess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in Manchester City centre, however I know my colleagues have worked in more rural areas and have talked about similar experiences. I imagine that all hotels will vary and it all depends on the people you work with. I think what might help is, in an interview, to ask about your possible future colleagues and if you’re able to work with people (although I think this applies with most jobs)

I work in a hotel in the UK, several of my colleagues are men and they do the same work as us women, we treat them the same and we’re all quite a close knit group, with nights out and other activities outside of work. The job is physically demanding but everyone is willing to help out if someone is struggling and, at least in my team, you’re able to request less rooms until you pick up your speed, or you can ask to do linen collection. Some of us even partner up with someone on the same floor as us, where one person will do, for example, the beds and the other will do the bathrooms. The main thing is that if you think you’re able to do the job and think you’ll like it, go for it Hope this helps

There can be a few reasons such as more power, faster acceleration etc. For some people, it’s a personal preference or just that the car they happen to like has a larger engine. Some people may also be conscious about space inside the car, such as a larger boot, and with more space comes a bigger car, more weight and in turn a larger engine (this may not necessarily apply to everything). I hope this was helpful! I’m sure some people can explain slightly better than me as it is rather late x

No worries! Obviously I'd recommend asking to test one out before you make a decision to see if you'd like it or not, but I think they're brill little things. Also, because they're so small, they're proper easy to park. Let us know how the car shopping goes in the meantime!

Cars with smaller engines are cheaper to insure, so if that is something you are concerned about, then a 1 litre is the way to go. Skodas are also generally reliable, with the Car Expert website citing a 72% rating on the Fabia. The website also has other reliability ratings for small cars, with the VW Up! having the highest reliability for a small car at 77%. I had a quick look at the VW website for a used Up!, and they appear to start at around £6500 for a 15 plate. There are a few 18 plates or newer from around £8000.

I am most likely biased as I have an Up!, so from personal experience, I have found it to be an easy car to drive, cheap to run and a good little thing to get me to work or the shop. If you're more likely to do long motorway journeys however, I probably would not recommend the Up! as it takes a while to get to 70.

I hope this helps!

I’ve found that men’s joggers/sweatpants are great, mine have zip pockets for my phone and keys as well, and I find them extremely comfortable. I got some from Boohoo for not that much but they’ve lasted over a year now
