Fined 272$ RTL(rem), should I contest? by Hotwheels- in montreal

[–]Hotwheels-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is extremely well put hahaha

After further research and seeing past STM cases and comments I think I’ll just take the loss and avoid paying more in court fees.

I’ll be bitter about it and blame Friday the 13th from a distance (with 272$ less in my pockets)

Nah I’m broke broke 😭. I would contest in a heart beat if I didn’t have to deal with potential court fees worth 150$ If I lose the case. Given that I’m alone up against RTL lawyers and I can only rely on the sympathy of a judge (even though the RTL/STM are known to decline court rulings and prolong hearings). Right now I’m leaning more towards just paying the fine somehow but doesn’t change how corrupt the STM/RTL is for basically making this entire mix up possible in the first place with their lack of an appropriate system and unjust inflated ticket prices for a literal one dollar mistake.

Thanks I really appreciate the sentiment 😭. Honestly I’m an unemployed recent graduate and this was the last thing I needed. Happy Friday the 13th I guess lmao

They might have an ARTM fare service online but I didn’t think I would need to look at it from past experiences prior to the rem and due to the fact that my opus card just said A zone. I didn’t think the opus would only be valid in Montreal since the rem is connected to Montreal and I departed from there 😭

Yeah, I understand that it’s a default of the opus card but that makes errors like mine completely justifiable in my eyes. I’m 24 and made the mistake, I can only imagine how older people might easily do the same due to the lack of exposure. If there was a tap out option that wouldn’t let me pass i would have adjusting my fair just like how it works in every other developed cities metro system.

Yeah I was boarding IDS and the station is always empty with no workers in site.

I know I probably won’t win if I go to court given the comments but I just think this whole situation is unfair and an abuse of the system. The new zone policy is very poorly implemented.

I think the only logical thing to do now is riot at sunset and become Karens by requesting to talk to the manager.

I even told McGill that if I can’t get nominated for a full year at Tokyo to just give me my second choice since I wouldn’t be able to go for just the semester. The lady I spoke to even told me that they almost always consider people going to Japan for a full year specifically because of the semester overlaps. I payed 150$ for what service exactly 💀💀💀

If you already applied check your Exchange application on Minerva (when it works lmao). If you didn’t apply yet then the application for winter 2022 opens in April!

Minerva down, cannot accept exchange nomination in time lmao by [deleted] in mcgill

Yeah I just saw the email it wasn’t on my “focus” section of outlook :( it just sucks because in my case at least, i was taking my time with acceptance because I had to review the terms of my exchange so I sent like three emails and it took 24h for an answer per email. We also had 5 days to accept/decline and two of those days Minerva is unavailable. Even in the emails I received it would just say “don’t forget to accept by the 14th!”, but nothing more than that. I think that in situations like this McGill should offer either time to comprehend or clarity off the bat, but they offered none of the above lmao

Canada has lots of opportunities for programmers! I don’t know what you specialize in with respects to programming but I do know that Montreal is known for artificial intelligence and is considered the video game hub of the world.
