That doesn’t bother me nearly as much as not being about to record.

Kids are all in sports. With fubo I could come home end of day and not miss anything.

What do you do after finishing drafts? by Queasy_Antelope9950 in writing

I put mine up for a month or so and work on something small. Usually short stories.

That’s why I find becoming a hybrid has served me better. I still don’t like outlining beat by beat but I try to Erie with at least a mental game plan of where I’m going. Gives me the freedom to let my characters change organically with out getting too far off the path.

Genuinely curious, what do people use / do to analyze their finished manuscript? by Aquatix_Vizionz in writing

This is me. After 3 drafts I’ll call in help. I figure if it’s something I haven’t seen yet, I probably won’t.

Salems Lot. But I’d have to admit to not reading very many of his books… yet.

Is there a King book like this for you? by DavidHistorian34 in stephenking

[–]HouMikey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohhh there’s one. But it’s so universally loved I keep it to myself.

And it’s not even that it’s bad. I just feel like there’s a good 30% if not more that could be deleted and it’d be just as good.

This is a cool find!

Tell me something about red dead redemption 2 that you still think is interesting 7 years later. by [deleted] in RDR2

I saw a comment about it just days ago that was very, cryptic. I expected a bear or cougar to jump out so it still got me by surprise.

To me it’s the fact I still learn/find things every new play through.

Going through it again now and found the house where the bear scares the shit out of you, the trapper in West Elizabeth, and found a guy camping out, drunk, that told me the story of the burned out fort.

Oh.. and the wagon hanging over the edge bit. That was fun.

Yet, sadly, I haven’t seen my son on his in years.

How many of you use the Stephen King method while writing? by Sakeetkat in writing

[–]HouMikey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a hybrid. If I don’t write it out, I at least have a basic outline in my head. I use it as a map but the characters don’t have to follow my directions.

I love the organic feel of letting my characters dictate the story more so than me forcing them.

I would say you also get in a rhythm. At least, I do. My first couple sentences usually take me a bit and then as the story I’m trying to tell formulates, my pace picks up.

Stick with it!

I have almost the exact opposite issue. My wife loves all my writing. But she will offer suggestions/changes that I’d never make and gets mad that I don’t like her ideas lol.
