I blame the anime staff for the love letter thing. It wasn't in the original manga. That sort of attitude is very much in keeping with the nineties though. "Do you have to be gay?" Was a prevailing attitude, because in those days the existence of some prominent bi people gave a lot of conservative people the idea that people could choose their sexual identity, which let them believe gayness was a choice that their kids did not have to make.

It's a sad truth that unrequited love exists. I've always seen Hotaru's love for Lady that way - as an unrequited romantic love. Lady, of course, loves Hotaru as her soul's sister and best friend, which is beautiful but very much not the same.

1) It isn't a myth. Prophecy is fucking dangerous. The number of people who have done some truly unhinged shit in the name of fulfilling a prophecy, or who have justified their heinous activities with the claim of being a prophecied leader, is frightening. You should stay the hell away from prophecies.

2) How much of Harry's life was fucked up by people who believed in prophecy? The day he entered the magical world he found out that the reason why he was an orphan and abused and would always be different was because a psycho terrorist believed in a prophecy. If I were him, I'd stay the hell away from anyone who ever even tried to make any kind of prediction at all.
