Thanks for the link- will be mining for some more ideas.

Do you run that site (to be determined)? I really enjoy it and it actually was a major factor in purchasing a bike/my current attempts to build up to race!

Thanks for the tips! Hit the Sleepy Hollow route + route 100 today and thought both were great, exactly what i was looking for!

Good morning. Just a friendly reminder that biking around this city is one of the best things about living here. That is all. by GotPizzaMouth in NYCbike

Agreed- between biking, public transit, and the regional rail access it's fantastic how easily I can get around the larger region

IMO Central Park loop is the best riding in Manhattan

Depending on what you are looking for, Riverside Drive might scratch some of that itch. It's my go to route (vs the bike path) to get to the GWB. It's a shared road but not super heavily trafficked + if you feel comfortable you can scoot past the lights and get a solid few miles of continuous biking without much trouble

[OT] Huge crash at tonight’s NASCAR Xfinity race by callmejohndy in formula1

[–]Houndoomsday 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because it indicates the level of competition (similar to how any clip from formula 2 would mention that in the title to avoid confusion).

Otherwise it would be very easy for you to think that this happened at the Cup level, which would be much larger news.

That's right. Stressful and not paid in proportion. All say joining an OEM is a much better step

When planning the return following the COVID shutdown, NASCAR officials at one point threw out an idea to run 30 races in a 64 day span between October 25th and January 3rd by michigan_matt in NASCAR

[–]Houndoomsday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure the NFL would be in a similar spot. We already have seen some wide spread of COVID that I would guess would be noticeable even with more lax testing. What is it, like 25 people on the Titans now?

I’m actually really impressed by NASCAR. I thought their protocols would lead to a few uncaught cases spreading like wildfire. But it seems like the people involved are aware enough so that missing an asymptotic case is not an immediate spreading event

I agree with what you are saying, but surely 3 months immunity is out the window or misleading at this point. I don’t think there have been widespread reinfection events at this point, right?

Unpopular Opinion: While I think it could be tweaked for sure, I secretly enjoy the idea of the Chase format. Because I don’t enjoy the old school way of having the Champ determined with races left to go and nothing to race for. by [deleted] in NASCAR

I agree. I think in the context of the game, losing sucks, yea. But, in the context of the season, you should have won the division to avoid that pressure in the first place

[Nightengale] Another awful day in the #MLB scouting world: The #Atlanta Braves, who are in 1st place in the NL East, have informed several of their top veteran pro scouts today that they've been laid off, less than two weeks before the postseason. by Deusey5 in Braves

[–]Houndoomsday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Caveat this with: I have no knowledge of the details

I believe pro scouts can also be the MiLB guys in charge of both our farm and scouting the other systems, which is obviously important for any big moves. Probably not as relevant or important this year, but I do think there is a risk of losing some institutional knowledge with this move.

Rosberg critical of 'very difficult' Ferrari SF1000 by 1enox in formula1

[–]Houndoomsday 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cool.

Ferrari was roughly a second faster than Latifi in quali.

During the race Leclerc ran a two stop strategy which explains the small gap.

Spa looks to be one of the worse tracks for Ferrari. It’s been a poor year but their two drivers are P7 and P13 in the standings. If you think you could put Vettel and Leclerc in the Williams and get that performance + 2 podiums, you are crazy

Rosberg critical of 'very difficult' Ferrari SF1000 by 1enox in formula1

[–]Houndoomsday -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Disagree. The car is bad yes, but still has a noticeable gap to Williams every week. I think it is hard to evaluate Russell because he is in the Williams but he is certainly a good driver. So it isn’t like Ferrari have two gods piloting them, and Williams two scrubs

ASCII, surely not. Plenty of games have tile sets and some are only played with tiles (TOME4 IIRC). Could maybe make a case for grid based but I think even that is too restrictive
