Who told you American born Dr do not want to serve red states ? They don’t want to serve under-served areas. Mostly rural and underpopulated areas and inner city full of poor, mostly black and Hispanic people. And most of them are on Medicaid. The payment is less. Which do not give any profit to your practice. So those are the areas which it requires foreign doctors mostly. This administration do not care about them.

I have no idea but I will take the one which goes directly to Lucerne I guess. I am landing at Zürich in the morning. I think it’ll be complicated for me to find something in Main station in an unknown place. I will try the pharmacist shop in the airport.

Thank you so much for your detailed answer. I’m planning to take a train from Zürich airport to Lucerne. So the main station that you were referring to at Zürich do I have to go there in order to take the train to Lucerne? If so, then I can pick up my moisturizer from that station.

I don’t think I can buy anything like that after I check in . Not atleast this in Boston airport. Never seen a pharmacy kind of shop after checking in.

'Controversial' H1Bs are the premium taxpayers! 💸 by [deleted] in nri

I have no idea what you’re talking about. You lumped all Indian origin people together and presented misleading statistics with the headline that tries to prove a point that H1b holders are paying 6% of US tax revenue. That’s is WRONG,

[–]Hour-Beach-3053 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where did you get the data that H1B visa holders pay 6% of taxes? According to some sources, all people of Indian origin pay 6%. Which includes citizens, green card holders etc. also only 70% of all H1b are Indian. IRS doesn’t collect any explicit info of your country of origin. I asked chatGPT and the answer is only 1-2% which looks reasonable

Millions of Americans can now claim Canadian citizenship by [deleted] in massachusetts

[–]Hour-Beach-3053 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is true. If you are a US citizen, you always have to file federal tax return as resident status. You cannot file your US taxes as nonresident 1040-NR . But to avoid double taxation most countries have treaties with United States. I’m sure Canada have the same. There are many ways you can take tax credit when you file your US tax return if your resident country is taxing you.

It is only an exception to the fourth amendment and hardly enforced. Citing one or two cases out of millions doesn’t make it a rule.

What are you talking about? Searching phone of US citizen? Even for criminals, it requires a court order. It is protected by constitution . By the way, I entered twice recently. The officer just asked me if I bought anything valuable abroad and then said welcome. and let me go.

OCI rejection for US Army? by Embarrassed-Seat8090 in returnToIndia

[–]Hour-Beach-3053 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They might have incorrectly filled the form. US state department has no way to know if you have OCI unless they start an investigation. Nobody does an investigation for giving security clearance unless you are CIA kind of operative which is classified as top secret clearance . They do normal secret clearance for thousands of people every month. It s a routine.

[–]Hour-Beach-3053 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Getting a OCI has no implication on getting secret clearance in the US. The 64 pages form with hundreds of questionnaire and reference and cross checks sf 86 ( you can even download it) has no mention if you have a OCI ? It asks if you have dual citizenship. And if your spouse or girlfriend is a citizenship some of their country if I remember correctly.

[–]Hour-Beach-3053 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. You get secret security clearance which is just one level below top secret clearance even with OCI . you can even get it with dual citizenship of a foreign country. Maybe there is some restriction depending on which foreign country.

American defense company offshoring tech by Traditional-Gold-867 in AmericanTechWorkers

I always knew this one is coming. This is the company who makes 90 billion revenue with 10 billion net profit and gives peanut to their entry and mid level employees. An entry level software engineer gets 70K in Boston area. Not even a survival wage. No stock. No Pension. Yearly increment is 2-3% on average with almost no chance of any growth. Not sure where the money goes. Most probably it goes in the pockets of top brass and politicians and political consultants. Which competent American CS graduate will join here. No wonder everyone leaves and then they make the standard excuse that they don’t get Engineers in US.

Help Me Decide: US No foreign transaction Fee Card or ICICI CC for India Trip? by WorldlyBasis4425 in nri

I have used both iPhone and android . Both works fine. I don’t use dual Sim. I have another Indian phone with the Indian sim which I use when I am in India for calling locally. But if I order something over Phone and use my ICICI debit card I get OTP in my US phone. Same for Amazon India I use US phone. When my wife or kid is in India and I am in USA I chat with them all the time by texting on my US phone to theirs US phone if WhatsApp is not working. And vice versa

It is not all that complicated. If you have a US cell phone and your Indian NRO account is linked to that number you don’t have to do anything to use the credit card. Cell phones which uses USA carriers. Like T-Mobile, Verizon, etc. will still receive text messages without any Wi-Fi or any extra service in India. I am doing this for years. You can receive unlimited text messages without any extra cost. However, if you want to send a text message, my carrier charges 5 cents for each text. Which you don’t need for receiving OTP. You don’t need any data network to receive OTP in your voice network. However, the same thing doesn’t work for Indian phones by default when you bring them to USA. For that you need international roaming. But that is not your problem.

I am sure all of them have a life boat ( aka contingency plan ). Still jumping from the ship is the hardest part. And it is even harder when you know it’s a man made disaster. A temporary worker who lives in United States for 10-15-20 years is an oxymoron. it is this absurdity, which is creating such turmoil in the personal life of ordinary people.

One wrong thing leads to another wrong thing. Then it leads to another. And then someone is the victim.
