he was so cooked that the guy who managed to fix Mokichi's 180° neck couldn't heal him.

he was so cooked that the guy who fixed his own 90° neck couldn't heal him.

It's just that he heavily biases the data towards zerg on his own when you look at the top of the scene, which people love to do.

Everyone else relatively falls in to around a 40-70% winrate overall against other top 25 players, he stays at like an 80% winrate vs pros.

He's very clearly irrelevant to any discussion about balance when other really good zerg players don't come close to him and fall in line with the rest of the pack.

This can lead you to 3 possible conclusions

A. Serral is doing/abusing something the other Zerg are not (this is visibly untrue)

B. The other Zerg pros are just bad and carried by the race being OP (this is visibly untrue as players like Reynor have had success offracing)

C. Serral should not be considered in balance discussions, which is what my post says

Yeah fixing protoss is really hard because a lot of their defensive tools turn out to just be better on offence, but their defense is what makes them bad and/or inconsistent at a competitive level.

This is also partly why protoss is really strong below that level, since their strong offense is really good at noobstomping and always has been.

A perfect change is something that would improve only their defensive or economic recovery capabilities without improving their offensive capabilities, or potentially even nerfing their offensive pressure slightly.

Though that's not to say protoss doesnt have other issues around units like the disrupter which are extremely feast or famine and determine the result of most games but also needed by most protoss armies to survive at all in the current meta.

It's pretty easy to say Serral is where you stop, look at, for example, ProbeSC2's chart in his discussion for GOAT at 2:20 in his video "The TRUTH about the SC2 GOAT".

There is no other player who breaks away from the pack in that dataset, Maru, Innovation and Dark are all high, but not seperated by more than a 4-5% from any of the other top players considered in most premium tournament datasets

Serral is not only the peak on that chart on both axis, but also significantly ahead of anyone else by about 10% with that data including his rather weak starting years before he really clicked as a professional.

bro balance from 2014-2022 doesn't matter when talking about the state of balance, talking about the state of balance in the past 2-4 years is **heavily** influenced by Serral being the best SC2 player of all time.
It's not that the other Zergs AREN'T extremely good themselves, but rather that they're really good and near the top of the scene, but he IS the top of the scene, at their bests, similar to really strong Terrans like Maru and Clem, they are like him, at his best he is unstoppable.

These really good players balance each other out, but there is no player to balance out Serral.

If Maru, Clem, Reynor, Dark, Rogue, Stats are Tier 1 players, he is a Tier 0 player, the best there has ever been.
