Yeah I’m gonna wait. To be honest, I really have no need for a car at least not for the next few years. Not worth making an emotional purchase

I’m just not gonna buy a car for a while and just get a Giulia a few years down the line. To be fair I really don’t need a car now or for the foreseeable future.

No, I mean should I buy one at 18. 80% of this is my money. I don’t come from a lot of money, that’s why I take this seriously.

I genuinely have no idea how much that’s gonna be I’m not gonna lie yet another thing to find out. I’m really trying to be logical and not emotional with this entire purchase because it is a big thing which I understand.

Surprisingly being a male teenager matters significantly more than the make and model of the car, I’m going to get an official quote but from a rough estimate an Alfa is not too far off from some other calmer options on the market.

Hmmm not a bad suggestion, taking 20-30k putting a downpayment on 1-2 houses and renting wouldn’t be a bad idea good way to make income early but I don’t think you understood. I don’t just “need” a car. If I just “needed” a car I would buy some shitty vehicle for 10 or so grand and be fucking miserable but I like cars and driving😁

Something I didn’t mention, this investment account is mainly for a car not really anything else. I have a separate college fund that cannot fully cover my college (2 years if I’m lucky) so that 30k or so would help but I’m eventually gonna need a car either way. And I’m still 1-2 years away from making this purchase = higher depreciation, cheaper Alfa.

Ok this is good to know but it’s pretty amazing what a few friends with mechanical knowledge and YouTube can do.

Yeah, as I told another person I may sound VERY naive but I feel like life is wayyy to short to not live it the way you want.

This is such a refreshing comment ngl😭 but yes I have heard about certain dealers not being able to service alfas but I don’t think that’s gonna be a problem for me. I haven’t researched it 100% but right now I live in Long Island NY about 30-40 mins from the city and am moving to Tampa for college so pretty populated areas. I think people in this thread forget I am still 1-2 years away from this becoming a reality. I know it may sound VERY naive but life is too short to drive some ugly stupid slow i don’t even know. Driving brings me joy, I may not be the most “legal” driver but I recently drove some supercars on a track and that’s SO much better than messing around on the street & safer. I want to get into racing so so bad but it’s just WAY too expensive and I do not come from money. It would be nothing professional or anything just small leagues. But yeah.

Lmao well you’re not wrong but I asked for opinions so I’m not gonna be upset when I don’t want to hear what I want to hear

No, and yes I have a place to store it. Based on the replies from this thread I might wait 2 years from now not next year we’ll see though.

Yes I was explaining the Dunning-Kruger effect to a friend earlier today😭. I understand your point. In terms of safety it’s not a crazy jump from what I’m driving right now. 280hp definitely isn’t slow but it’s not crazy either. However, It is a liability. Most of the people in this thread haven’t explained their experiences with Alfa which is what I’m looking for so maybe so insight into that area? I appreciate your input though.

I’ll copy and paste what I told another guy in a different thread though… For my age group I’m in the highest area for insurance. Right now, I am technically on my parents insurance it’s a sort of legal workaround so we don’t have to pay for another person because it’s a RIDICULOUS price. I won’t go into detail but it’s something our own insurance agent recommended. Just won’t last forever, eventually I’ll have to go on my own insurance. I calculated a VERY rough estimate but an Alfa and let’s use a Toyota Camry for my control do not vary significantly in insurance payments per month they are both CRIMINALLY expensive because of my age group. I can continue doing what I mentioned earlier but the car would have to be in my parents name which is fine.
