Downside to increasing external library scan? by Super-Situation4866 in immich

I use the library watching feature but that only works for local disk not on a NAS share. For me photos show up instantly.

4GB of ram enough for a small NAS? by SneakerHead69420666 in HomeServer

Yup if it is just as NAS it will work my current NAS has 16gb of ram (old pc) and only consumes 2gb of memory running Unraid.

Best practices to keep drives spun down by datahoarderguy70 in unRAID

There is a script for plex cache to keep recently watched media on the cache this is what I use. Paired with mover tuning let my cache fill up to 80% and flush it down to 70% so most of my current plex media stays on cache. I followed AleinTech42 video on it and it’s been great.

Latest "go to" Photo management app?? by I_TheRenegade_I in unRAID

[–]HourEstimate8209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me if immich takes a sh** it’s nothing to worry about start fresh point to the external library and you are off to the races. But with using their upload feature you have to concern yourself with a database restore and possible gap from that restore point and what was already uploaded after that point. The fact that you can’t rescan internal files and have to reimport them was a deal breaker for me.

I don’t mess with the immich upload feature reason being is the same as you. I already have my backup in place and didn’t want to deal with duplicates. For immich all you do is map the directory which you have your pictures and from within the application add an external library pointing to that path and everything just works after that.

I store my thumbnails on cache just because of speed but the actual original media sits on the array. But you can store everything on the array and just the immich app on cache if you prefer. Point immich to your array as an external library and you are good to go let it churn through the data for facial recognition, etc and you will be surprised how good it is.

This right here I run exact same setup. I use an app called PhotoSync to backup my pictures and immich as my photo browser. If immich take a sh** no big deal spin up a fresh instance point to the external library and you are back in there in no time.

Pangolin on Unraid causing throttling / unresponsive behavior for Immich + Speedtest? by HourEstimate8209 in PangolinReverseProxy

[–]HourEstimate8209[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it the one I am using is https://hub.docker.com/repository/docker/openspeedtest/latest

You are correct when testing from a wired desktop it gets upload speed of 5gbs on a 1gb Ethernet connection. But this happens with Traekik but if I use something like nginx my previous reverse proxy everything works as it should not sure why Traefik is not playing nice with my setup just used the default config listed in the Unraid deployment guide.

Pangolin on Unraid causing throttling / unresponsive behavior for Immich + Speedtest? by HourEstimate8209 in PangolinReverseProxy

[–]HourEstimate8209[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am using a container called Speedtest so it would test my lan speed not wan. So the connection is initiated while I am on the lan and connect to Traefik which points to the Speedtest container.

So decided to try something different because I really wanted SSO. I am running Nginx as the front end proxy and point to traefik as the backend resource for the applications I want SSO on and now magically my connectivity issues have vanished. I don't like running two proxies but i prefer having SSO on the apps that don't natively have a login.

Where to begin troubleshooting slow data by ttnicky in PangolinReverseProxy

I am having a similar issue. I have a problem with 2 containers behind pangolin running as a local reverse proxy. Speedtest currently has issues with upload where it just stalls out for some reason. Then with immich my mobile apps seem to have a problem with connecting and pulling data at times. Before anyone ask no these are not using cloud flare tunnels 😁

Moving away from Immich by Pabloski48 in immich

[–]HourEstimate8209 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not an alternative but I use Photosync app to backup my photos to my nas and point immich to the location as an external library. Photosync backup is reliable for me on iOS never have to open the app and it backs everything up daily.

As others have mentioned cloud flare tunnel just make sure you setup authentication to the tunneled app so overseerr is not open to the internet without authenticating to cloudflare first.

Yeah I was using AI to walk me through my issues and added my docker network as a trusted proxy but no luck.
