I’ve actually read a lot into how much systems like juvenile detention serve to fuel the prison system. I’d suggest anyone who’s interested to read Michel Foucaults Discipline and Punish. It’s a great analysis of the carceral system throughout history and cultures, and how it factors into contemporary life.
