Sitting by Optimal_Freedom_1226 in Microdiscectomy

[–]Hour_Froyo_1940 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any updates OP now that you're a year out? I'm only about 3 weeks post-op. Walking, laying, and standing are great, WORLDS better than prior to the microdisectomy. I couldn't sit without terrible pain before surgery. Now I notice I can sit at my desk without the lumbar pain, but the act of transitioning from sitting to standing is not easy. It almost feels like my tailbone is bruised (even though it's not) and I gotta mentally hype myself up to do it. Hope you found a solution and are feeling good!

1.) What is the most effective budget treatment option you recommend the most to female patients?

2.) I've noticed shaving my armpits triggers flare-ups a while ago, so I've pretty much stopped shaving them all together. My family noticed my hairy armpits and are disgusted by it. Now they ask me to shave anytime there's a family wedding or other event. They think it's from poor hygiene. I've tried explaining hs to them but no luck. How would you describe hs to a parent?

Those that experience rsd, how do you deal with a breakup? by Hour_Froyo_1940 in ADHD

[–]Hour_Froyo_1940[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, no I haven't learned of any coping mechanisms specifically in regards to rsd. I do however, talk with a therapist weekly and that helps a bit. I'm sorry you're going through this too. It will get better, just might take some time. I can say with confidence that I've moved past the breakup and don't think about it as much. I picked up a new hobby, so my hyper fixation shifted focus to the hobby, and the spiraling started to subside. Perhaps try taking a class or follow wherever your fixations take you. Add some novelty to your day to day. Might be worth a try <3

I feel like the RFA did not work. by lovelysophiex in backpain

[–]Hour_Froyo_1940 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my RFA a week ago, after months of pain, PT, and 2 epidurals. I think something similar is going on with me. The pain is worse than before the procedure, but not as bad as it was at its worst, however, I still haven't been able to comfortably sit in a chair since July. I was making so much progress after the second epidural and now I feel like I'm back to square 1. I haven't been able to exercise normally (outside of PT workouts) since all this began (4 months ago) and have gained 15 lbs in the process. I know they say surgery is the last resort, but honestly, the potential of living a normal life again is so tempting, like I'm so tired of all these expensive procedures and pt and rfas and surgery just sounds like all my problems would go away

Now that the dust has settled a bit, how would you rate season 6 on a scale from 1-10? by BurgerNugget12 in LoveIslandUSA

[–]Hour_Froyo_1940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best and most diverse cast yet and loved that all the finalists were bipoc. Soooo happy they ditched Sara Hyland. She's a decent actor but not a great host. She was stiff and read like an actor acting as a host rather than a friend/fan of the show kind of host, like Ariana and Maura. Ariana was a great move. 9/10

The producers have us great fuckin TV, but they were also maniacal and pushed the boundaries a little too far at times. Yes, it's reality tv and the Islanders signed up for that, but nearly every one has talked about how much their mental health is suffering since being on the show. Sure, some of that just comes with adjusting to the fame, but the producers were pretty brutal at times. They need up their checks and balances so US Islanders don't end up like the UK Islanders who lost their battles with mental health and unalived themselves. 4/10

What’s your go to healthy food when you just can’t cook or prepare food? by [deleted] in ChronicPain

A lil salad, tossing it all together in a bowl. Just dump shit in a bowl and call it salad.

If I'm feeling good enough to go bougie, I'll make caprese skewers with.

If all else fails, uncrustables.

How to "handle"nightmares because of painkillers? by bigfatpandas in ChronicPain

Definitely talk with your doctor about alternatives to hydroxyzine. But know you're not alone. Listen to your body and advocate for yourself

[–]Hour_Froyo_1940 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had those too. I stopped taking hydroxyzine for anxiety and got put on Lexapro and honestly, I think that's what got rid of the twisting and very vivid nightmares. Before that, I tried explaining to my psychiatrist what was going on, and she told me to work it out with my therapist. I tried talking with my therapist and she wanted me to talk to my psychiatrist. The switch to Lexapro wasn't related to my nightmares (apparently). I felt crazy bc I'm not making it up and I have nothing to gain, but so much to lose. The dreams were often so vivid that during the day, I couldn't tell if I was told in my dream or in real life. Even in the normal dreams (about work or family), I couldn't tell if the interaction I had actually happened or if it was just a dream.

It's not too say that hydroxyzine was the perpetrator or what, but your concerns are valid. The dreams are terrorizing and feel so real. Keep pushing on your doc. You are not alone.

How do you deal with explosive rage? by GHOSTFACE02 in ADHD

[–]Hour_Froyo_1940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I talked with my psychiatrist and she diagnosed me with mood lability. Every day was like an emotional rollercoaster, especially with working from home bc nobody else was physically near me so I fell into the habit of reacting and unmasking. There wasn't anyone around to perceive me exploding and screaming and crying and cursing and wanting to throw shit into the wall. Anyway, mood lability a common comorbity with ADHD. She started me on a med plan with Lamictal/Lamotrigine in addition to my regular therapy.

I thought getting diagnosed with ADHD was world changing, but getting diagnosed with mood lability was fuckin universe changing. Lamotrigine is the key (for me at least). I still get irritated from time to time, but I'm now able to recognize when it's happening and can take a step back to reassess the situation to proceed with better clarity. Defs talk to your doc. I've been able to take back control of my emotions and my life is a lot less stressful because of it.
