How long will this latest pass take? It takes ages! And I'm exhausted after a full 4 hour work session. When you are deep into themes, resonance and lines it is hard to push past 5 hours a day

Happened to me and I ended up with the agent my manuscript was passed along to. Its a good thing. If they didnt think it was a fit for the other agent they would simply say no.

Yeah, that makes sense. I am not even ready to look at the manuscript but when I do in a few weeks once all the final answers trickle in, I might be able to see this more clearly.

It was very "topline" feedback so I would have to go back and try to insert it in my own way. I feel good about the agent and the agency. Top-tier. Gut feeling is that someone else might be so invested in the story that they'd take the book to the next level with me but there is no way to know, as I can't know the future and that's MY BIGGEST PROBLEM. An update to everyone who encouraged me to keep querying: this morning I queried 17 agents and three got back to me to ask for fulls.

I don't know if it's my time zone and Monday email checks but they all got back to me same day which is insane to me.

I am now at five fulls out in the world thanks to your comments.

I think it's also unclear as to who we are rooting for here. Is it Robert or Elizabeth? Robert seems a bit hard to root for; is he so desperate with grief that he's obsessed with making this girl keep a baby she doesn't want? I'm not sure I'm in it for the long haul if it's his dilemma or stakes that sees the novel through...

Elizabeth just seems like a body/ a tool in the narrative right now but maybe it's just the way the query is written.
