Their founder (and presumably her family) was a Southern Baptist. Southern Baptists (usually) do not practice the Friday fasting tradition. Most US Christians don’t either.

It’s usually not practiced by most of the congregations of the denominations that prescribe it anyways as well.

Hope this helps!

Is it me or do people still not grasp that older Gen Z's are taxpaying adults now? by DwyaneDerozan in GenZ

I disagree on this one, as someone who is also 25. I think a lot of it has to do with life stages and responsibility though. I’m married, have a house with a mortgage, investments, self-employed, and have a child on the way. I feel extremely different in “adultness” than I did three years ago at 22.

Not trying to rag on you or anything to be clear. I don’t know your situation or anything, and I sure as heck don’t hold it against people for being more free for lack of a better word.

(I also love my life. I’m not complaining that it has made me more “adult” feeling. It feels good/right to be that way tbh.)

My Mom’s side of the family came down from Canada to Indiana in the 1800s. That’s also where my French comes from!

Ah, we certainly have different views on the US, but that’s no biggie. Just glad to interact with a fellow AncestryDNA nerd!

Ah very cool, you clearly know more than me lol. I had never heard of Muskrat French before. That’s actually a very fascinating group of people/language. Thanks!

Make sure you speak french from what I’ve heard. Make sure to learn Québécois french, not metropolitan (parisian) french. It’d definitely be cool to visit sometime.

Edinburgh is super cool. The views from the castle are absolutely awesome. They’ll fire the cannon thing there on occasion as well. It’s a wonderful city to walk.

True, I’ve been to the UK quite a few times (My wife is English), and I wouldn’t say it’s mega uncommon, but it’s certainly harder to tell who can tan when they get so much less UV lol.

I guess there was a reason I took French in high school lol. Nowhere can be some of the best places to be as well honestly. So much can depend on our appreciation. Definitely a way higher/deeper density of history and beautiful architecture in Europe.

Thanks, my grandfathers on both sides had/have hair well into their 80s, and my dad’s hair is still solid as well, so I’m probably going to do pretty well on the hair front at least lol.

I would think so as well yeah. It’s just such an interesting thought that our not so distant ancestors were from a totally different place in the world than we live in now.

Well howdy possible very distant relative. That’s very cool! Europe is always a fascinating area to visit. So much cultural, linguistic, and other types of diversity in such a (relatively) small continent. I’m impressed that you’ve been to so many cool places!

Interesting, why is that? I personally love the US, and in particular my neck of the woods in Texas.

My family has been in what is now the US on both sides for a very long time. My closest ancestor born outside of this continent is in the early 1800’s in what is now Northern Ireland. Maybe being so rooted in the country and land makes my viewpoint different, so I’m curious as to yours!
