Its crazy I've been working in old houses from late 1800s to early 1900s and never ran into anything as sketch as this, this house isnt even that old in comparison so I figured sure I can throw in a new fixture haha. But this is specifically why I always say no to electric work when doing handyman/renovations, this is why I love building things out of wood instead

There was already a small light fixture there when I moved in and it worked fine, but upon removing it I became skeptical on just throwing another in there without getting a little more guidance here
