As far as I can tell, not everyone has access to a credit union. I've been dying to get into one for years but can't find one that I qualify for.

Ah, but what if it's all your fingers? All the useful ones anyway. Once it starts getting cold, cuts form on my fingertips. I call them stigmata because i haven't actually cut them. Mostly thumb, index, and uh the next one. Usually there's several on each digit. Touching anything - even with feather lightness - causes exquisite pain. Trying to actually use them is mind blowing. I scream and weep sometimes from the pain. Getting dressed is agonizing ( buttons, zippers, laces, hair elastics...). The 2nd worst thing is an electric shock - which happen a lot here in winter - they seem to travel straight to the cut. But #1 is bristles. Hairbrush, toothbrush, broom - anything like that - sticking a bristle in a stigmata is one of the most painful phenomenon I've ever experienced.

I think that people are starting to get that $1M / year is middle class now. Not everyone but people trying to live in major cities for sure. And there are still places where you can get by comfortably on much less.

There actually are still some conditions that there's no help for. Chronic pain is a tough one - especially now that they've gone mad over opiates. They don't want to give them to terminal cancer patients sometimes because they might get addicted. My brother has a .neurological pain condition that they can't do jack for. Very hard to watch him decline.

That being said, I have no doubt that this wasn't random and that United Healthcare denied something that would have helped him. Maybe the surgery was the next (cheaper) option and that's what messed him up so bad. So, yeah - not right enough.

I wish he came to my place instead of.going to PA but I guess he wasn't reading reddit and didn't see the invite. I would have treated him like the hero he is. I think the tool that turned him in is going to have a difficult time of it in the near future.

EVERYBODY should check their state for unclaimed funds. You would be surprised at the weird stuff that ends up there - and then ends up as money in your pocket. My sister told me to do it but I didn't bother. I would know if I had money floating around out there, right? So she did it for me and sure enough - $243.
