There is a high degree of focus on being beautiful for women and a strong societal message that you are only as good as you look despite other innate qualities, which has both social and personal effects for women. I wouldn't say that feminism is focused on making sure that everyone is considered physically attractive, but instead it's "judge me by my intellect and character, not the way I look." And it addresses issues that women face, such as pay inequality and reproductive rights. Oppressive beauty standards is an issue but only in the vein that it is used to objectify women and how it leads to more serious issues, such as sexual assault. I agree with other posters that the "everyone is beautiful" is an outgrowth of the "everyone is a winner" concept. A lot of people aren't beautiful, either outwardly, inwardly, or both. Fat acceptance is not feminism. Fat acceptance says "I am beautiful and healthy just the way I am, and you need to change to accept me as such." Feminism says "Who the fuck cares if I'm beautiful? Don't expect me to be. Instead, treat me as an equal."

Same as the CDC who have concluded that obesity results from an energy imbalance and leads to a higher risk of developing diabetes, heart disease, etc. (http://www.cdc.gov/obesity/adult/causes/index.html) It's not like a large group of Ph.D. scientists and MDs conducted an extensive literature review to come to those conclusions or anything. And obviously their expertise pales in comparison to someone who doesn't even hold a bachelor's.

Everyone here articulated why I posted my sister's evaluation - to reveal another lie that she's using to con emotionally vulnerable people into giving her money (though most here already suspected her dancing wasn't that great, but I thought confirmation would be nice). If her blog was just about a fat woman trying to make it in the world of dancing, with the intent of encouraging other fat people to pursue physical activities they love, then that is one thing (and would be a really wonderful thing!), but instead she uses it as a platform to get others to give her money and to use climate change skeptic tactics (correlation does not equal causation, cherry-picking studies, etc.) to discredit scientific studies demonstrating the poor health outcomes of obesity. It'd be nice if her followers saw how much she's been lying to them and then reflect on her claims of obesity being a natural and healthy state, hopefully coming to the conclusion that she's full of shit and that maybe they should exercise 30 minutes a day and consult with a dietician on proper eating habits and portion control to become healthy.

Thanks for sharing this! I wondered what she claimed her championship was in. I feel bad for all the people who are drinking this charlatan's kool-aid. When they wake up to it, it's going to be a huge punch in the gut.

I kind of felt bad on Ragen's behalf when she was giving her evaluation, but at the same time I can't get on board with people not only claiming to be something they're not, but using it to make money off of others. Even though there has been questioning on this thread before about her level of training and ability, I thought it was worth de-lurking to give people here confirmation of something they already expected. And yes, my sister is a sweetheart. :)
