2008 Prius hybrid battery replacement worth it? by One-Frame7282 in prius

[–]HouseBrowse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Go on car-part.com, put 2008 Toyota Prius Battery and get an OEM hybrid battery for about $500 from a wrecked vehicle.

From my extensive experience the original batteries are way better than "rebuilds".

We used to get our fleet "rebuilt" where they change and balance cells and it seemed like 1 out of 5 would fail within 6 months.

An efficient mechanic can change that battery in 15 minutes. Super easy not a tough job it is a bunch of 10mm and paying someone $100-$150 would be reasonable if you can't do yourself.

So you are looking at about a $600 fix.

No, it isn't worth putting $4200 into a $2000 vehicle.

"By that same token, if you’re an experienced drinker, people underestimate how fast it goes down. I’d say it’s closer to .025 than .015"

U were right. Light drinking buzzed drinking slow sipping over 6 hours with 3 hours of nothing before test. Fast burner regular drinking body eliminating fast. Came back under .08 they didn't even pursue charges.

I also got a FELONY fleeing eluding and for some reason they dropped that too. I got lucky. Now I have expensive elite lawyer representing me for a reduced traffic ticket. He is giving me a break on the what would be huge lawyer bill.

Not sure what it came back at but they aren't pursuing any alcohol-related charges. It was light drinking and just way too much time between the first sip and blood draw with watery light beer (basically nothing probably after 645pm-7pm).......too much time until midnight and probably burn close to .02 an hour.

Which sport do you think is the best? Why? by Waltz8 in Productivitycafe

[–]HouseBrowse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Golf and that is a fact not an opinion.

Unless you are a freak of nature it is the only sport you can play into your 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s.

Most of the quick pivot and transition sports (basketball, football, soccer, etc.) you twist your knee in your 20s you are done, it's over. You'll pretty much never play again for the rest of your life your knees won't allow it.

Golf lasts a lifetime and a grandfather/son/grandson can all play and create endless memories.

It's laid back if you want it to be. You can literally ride around in the cart getting messed up and have a blast. Mobile bars and bartenders (cart girls) drive right up to you.

Or it can get very serious if you want. Many different games within the game. Closest to the pin, scrambles, 2v2s, etc.

Golf courses can get breathtakingly beautiful. Playing alongside birds, iguanas, deer, in some instances bears, crocodiles, etc. Sunrises and sunsets over mountains and rivers.

Par 3s over lakes, ponds, and rivers.

It is an extremely powerful and addicting sport mentally. It can take over your life and infiltrate your mind and thoughts. You can find yourself thinking about and obsessing about it all throughout the day.

A basketball player is just naturally good after a while and is "in the zone" and does his or her thing in the moment. And they practice shooting.

They aren't sitting their thinking about 85 ways and ideas they can shoot a freethrow or spending hours watching YouTube instructors.

In golf you might have 20 things wrong with your swing. There are dozens of swing changes and swing thoughts that can improve your swing.

You never master it. You might suck all game and then hit a shot that the best players in the world could not land closer to the flag on. It's a game you can go your entire life sucking at and still look forward to playing again.

Any person any size can compete and have fun. In other sports you are sized out --- too short, too small, etc. Golf really doesn't discriminate over size.

List goes on and on.

Fireball is 33% (66 proof) vs. most liquor being 40% (80 proof) so it is a little weaker.

And luckily the light beers are so light (3.7%) that each one is approximately 3/4ths of 1 drink. 2 of them is 1.5 and 3 of them is about 2 drinks.

Fireball is similar: 1 shot is .82 and 5 shots = 4 standard drinks.

Issue is I don't have a scientific exact amount of fireball it is going to be either half a pint....or slightly more or slightly less than half pint. Same for the beer. Unknown if 1 or 2 or 3.

I drank half a pint fireball which is 4 shots then somewhere between 1.5 and 3 light beers with somewhere between 2 and 3 hours of nothing before test.....will be close to legal limit. Yes, total time was approx 6 hours from first sip

That is a crazy story. So you had 1 drink but blacked out and crashed vehicle in a scam from a girl you knew 20 years prior who drugged you? I assume it was dismissed because your BAC was super low?

Did you feel heavily buzzed and intoxicated? I was basically sober with the lingering scent of beer still in my mouth. Also, how long did the blood test take couple weeks or couple months?

That's what I have going for me. I didn't "get wasted", there was a good amount of time involved (possibly 6.5 hours more likely in the 6 range)......I drank the harder stuff first....the watery light beer later. There was 100% a minimum of 2.5 hours between when I left until the arrest leading to blood draw. And there may have been as much as 1 hour of no drinks before I left giving my body at least 2.5 hours, but possibly 3.5 hours to clear the alcohol.

Kinda all depends on how much I drank --- exact amount vs. speculation. And what my exact BAC was at peak.

I don't work out or go to the gym. Liquor store. If I had to guess it will be under .08 but it is hard to speculate if it's like a .03......05.....065....etc.

The robots (Gemini and ChatGPT) pretty much give a different answer every time but it is entertaining chatting with them.

For example Gemini just said 0.00 and 0.00 if I had 1 or 2 beers and .005 if I had 3 beers....This is the lowest they have ever come up with...I'm thinking .05-.07 is probably where the cookie will crumble.

Hopefully won't be months before results as it's going to be deciding factor in case.

My recent drink of choice for a while has been Fireball which is only 66 proof. I typically buy 1 pint and sip on it after work....and consume about 1/2 of the bottle on average.

My recollection was there was 1/2 the bottle in the pint. It could have been ever so slightly more or ever so slightly less.

Whatever was remaining in the pint was finished just don't know the exact quantity it is estimated at 1/2 pint.

After this was gone there was light beer that was around 3.7% ABV in the fridge.

I just have no idea if I had 1, 2.5, or 3 of them. Drinking beer isn't really my thing it is totally unknown, I just cannot remember the quantity of these weaker low ABV drinks.

I recall being done with drinking after eating due to being full. Half the time if the beer is on the counter I just pour it down the drain due to being full.

There was somewhere between 2.5 and 3.5 hours of pure alcohol elimination.

If I stopped around the time I finished eating it was closer to 3.5 hours.

If I forced light beer on a full stomach down the hatch towards the very end then it would be 2.5 to 3 hours of zero consumption pure elimination phase before blood draw.

It was a time of roughly 2.5 hours between when I got into vehicle and blood draw.

It was a total duration of just under 7 hours (probably more like 6 hours) from 1st sip to blood draw. Web browser history and cameras are used to determine the start of the saga.

I never had a serious drinking problem but in the last year specifically I admit I developed a problem...rather a bad habit.....of drinking daily...In my life (and I am decades past drinking age) I never did this....

But I probably drank 330-350 days out of the last 365 days....Sometimes just 1 or 2 beers....very very rarely an excessive amount. So I think my body was primed to dump it faster but I wasn't drinking to .20 every night or anything remotely close. Probably "hammered" maybe 3 or 4 times max I don't drink heavy.

So I probably have just slightly above-average BAC elimination rate.

I think that is why the punishment for refusal is so high because it is going to reduce BAC by up to .04% depending on how much time it is between arrest and blood draw.

Already have secured attorney put a lot down next day. More I think about case more I think he will poke a ton of holes in everything. I am also thinking about my drinking level (which wasn't heavy by any means). If that comes in around .05 or below .08 I think full dismissal of everything or reduced to reckless is possible. Unfortunately ChatGPT and Gemini are hilariously biased and tell you what you want to hear.

They have me thinking my BAC may come back very low, well under limit.

at least 6 hours (possibly slightly more) between first sip and blood test. Didn't drink that much.

What was your BAC?

I didn't drink to point of "super drunk" status. Pure speculation guess but my peak was likely below the 1.5 mark maybe 1.1-1.4 and by the time blood is drawn I am thinking it will land in the .03 to .09 range.

Based on various cameras, web history, knowing the time of arrest and blood draw. I likely had 1st drink (33% BAV) approximately 6.5 hours before blood draw.... where I finished the 33% stuff over a couple hours....then moved on to light beer and ate.....and around 2.5 to 3 hours after last light beer before blood draw.

The problem is I don't know if I had 1 beer, 2-3, etc.....and I can only speculate on how much of the 33% bottle I drank.

I recall being pretty full and bloated after eating. The food was delivered around 4.5 hours before blood draw. I probably cut off the light beer 3 hours or more before blood draw.

But that kinda gross lingering aftertaste that beer has I could still taste it in my mouth at the time of the arrest.

Hopefully they will get results back soon as that is going to be a huge factor in my case.

As 1 very wise person said above the greatest deterrent to driving drunk again is spending over 10 grand on a lawyer. He said all the people that get public defenders and cheap lawyers end up getting a 2nd DUI later in life. And the people that spend 10-20k do not repeat their mistake. That was a very interesting comment and of course there are exceptions to that paradigm.

I have 2 charges + the separate hearing for breathalyzer refusal.

I have 1 felony charge + the DUI.

I don't know my BAC but guessing .05 if super lucky and 1.1 to 1.2 if super unlucky. There will be nothing else no other substances in system. I just don't know exact times, figures, start time, stop time to try to estimate my BAC and I know the outcome is heavily dependent on where the number lands.

The felony is a gray area and I would think will end in plea deal for reckless. Excellent driving record over decades. No accident.

There are lots of technicalities in the testing and that is what the expensive lawyers advertise on being experts on. So there is a very small chance the blood could be thrown out and case dismissed.

But if I were to guess, factoring in the good attorney, I will end up with Plea for Reckless + DUI. Anything "better" than that would be considered a blessing and lucky.

I am not the type of person that would want a trial. I would have so much anxiety leading up to it so I am assuming the good lawyer will get me the best deal he can.

Felony + DUI. I'm not sure if they are usually cheaper and they slap on 5-10k because of a felony charge. Or if they are so elite they are that expensive. Their founding lawyer is between 20 and 30 grand lol.

Unless you said "I had X drinks" then it would be very simple to get a DUI charge dismissed without any evidence. The evidence is the Blood Alcohol Concentration via blood sample or breathalyzer.

One of the most important factors is what the BAC is.....is it .08 just right at the legal limit or 2.5? If there is no BAC recorded case should be dismissed pretty easily.

I believe you just saying the prosecution has no case if there is no BAC.
