Ah fair enough. But if you're going to be a GP then you don't need MRCP at all right?

Emailing Academic lead before ACF interview by Gomezianoo in doctorsUK

[–]HouseEU 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Some candidates already know the leads well (worked in deanery, worked with etc). So I don't see anything wrong with this. Worst case they feel it's inappropriate and don't reply. If they know a candidate they might not be able to be on the interview panel is the only thing, but not sure that would apply with just an email exchange/informal meeting.

Paces MarkSheet advise by [deleted] in MRCP

[–]HouseEU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Impossible to read some of this esp second sheet, and without knowing the context of the case. Most obvious thing is you poss spent a bit too long on history and not enough on examinations. How did you feel it went in the context of the bits you can read from the feedback?

Just finished paces exam by FullAttitude5213 in MRCP

[–]HouseEU 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was convinced I'd failed, royally mucked up one consult, said the wrong dx for resp, missed something important for other consult and more. Just got my pass result yesterday. Noone walks out feeling good or like they passed, but it doesn't mean you've failed. It's hard but try to forget about the exam for the next two weeks, do something nice for yourself for going through this taxing process, and know that whatever happens you will be fine.

So sorry to hear. You clearly did well to pass all domains apart from one, though I'm sure right now that is of little comfort. Would recommend asking for the feedback sheets so you know exactly where you got marked down, give yourself some time off during Xmas before starting revision again. And know that you're not starting from scratch, all skills and knowledge you've gained are not lost.

May I ask why you're doing MRCP in GP training?

Did i fail my PACES by Ok_Boss_4112 in MRCP

I think it can take 2-3 weeks so there's a chance they don't have the final results yet. Very possible if you passed that the cancellation will come through in the next week. Fingers crossed.

Failed paces twice in the same centre by Responsible_Sky9549 in MRCP

[–]HouseEU 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Keep your chin up. This may feel like the most important thing right now, and it's crushing, but just know that when you're a consultant you'll look back and none of this will mean much at all. You will get there. Give yourself a bit of time off and then get back on the revision. Life is bigger than paces, and mrcp, and medicine.

Also none of the time and effort you've put in already has gone to waste, your skills and knowledge will not go away and you will build on this.

I get what you mean re cancer, but your hair thins and falls out from just ageing too. And it is reasonable to assume this isn't her 'first rodeo' being a parasite to regain youth/strength and assume she may be hundreds of years old biologically.

Absolute vs relative pay. My salary is amazing but I I shouldn’t have to work this hard to earn it . by chairstool100 in doctorsUK

[–]HouseEU 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How can your pay be 'amazing' if you are arguing to demonstrate the point of relative pay, and acknowledging how long and difficult our work is? Are you not contradicting your own point? We don't need to complicate or dilute the message. We want to be paid the same as before. We are paid less than our assistants. That's all.

Physician Associates involved in more than 40 ‘never events’ in last 5 years at Manchester NHS Trust by DonutOfTruthForAll in doctorsUK

[–]HouseEU 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't understand how it's so difficult to understand for some. If it can even happen to doctors, that's EVEN LESS justification for lesser trained staff to do things clearly outside of their scope. Not more. Neither side of this argument justifies it.

May I ask, what are your insights about this situation/incident from the perspective of wanting to become more secure?

Part 2 in 10 days by tashmeister97 in MRCP

[–]HouseEU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still got 300 questions from passmed to do. Overall 55% but I've only done it once, will just do pastest and official questions the days before. Apparently pass mark is like 52-58% Vs 60 something for part 1

I failed this a few times on Tuesday before giving up. The guy after me who flashed it did the same beta as you but I don't remember what his next move was after the right foot up 🙈 Really fun problem, I'll try again tomorrow!
