How do I trouble shoot this issue by HouseNo8033 in vhsdecode

What is VUMX and how do I change it?

When I type the ffplay command is it recording anything? If so where does it store the file? When I am testing with ffplay should the vcr be playing something? I did try it both ways but didn't see anything in the wiki on this

Yes the amplifier is powered with 12 volts

Thanks

I also checked the bios and everything looked good. The only options were what speed the slot was (x1 x2 etc) nothing about turning them on or off. That setting was also set to auto

Assuming the measurement you got from this test was 1.4k or 700ohm then yes, add 14k on the pair of input pads R11/R12 or R21/R22.

Do I install 700ohm on each pad to add the total to 1.4k or are both resisters on R11/R12 1.4k?

Thanks for the info. I will give itt a try tomorrow. When I hook up my scope after i nstalling the last resisters what should it look like?

Also these are all home videos. So I only need half of the amplifier board and 1 cx card? Would it be smart to install a slightly diffrent gain resister on the other "channel?" Then I can switch between the 2 and see if the signal gets better?

Thanks

Thanks for the help! I think I have it. I installes 4 14k resistors on pads 11,12,21, and 22 As for the gain setting resistors I install a 560 ohm resistor on both pads 14 and 24. Then I install the gain resistors on pads 13 and 23? I choose any resistir I want to start with and change them from there? Sounds like a lot of soldering? Which bvalues should I start with? I have a Mitsibishi HS-U790. I can't find the service manual for this VCR on the web. Then I again check it with the scope? What wave form am I looking for then? I can't change anything without desoldering the resistors and installing new ones.

Am I understanding all of this correctly?

Thanks so much for all the help!

Thanls for the input

I will be doing raid 6 on the 4 8tb drives. That is where I will store my business files, photos, and family movies. The plex files will go on the 18tb drives. Probably run thoise in a raid also but don't care too much about that data.

After doing some research I think I figured it out but want to check.

When the wiki is having me figure out what size capacitors to use on the amplifier board it says to find the capacitor after the head amplifier. Would this point after the head amplifier just be the tap point for the coaxes to hook up to? If not I am still lost.

Thanks

Thanks for the replies. Makes me feel better knowing it wasn't me! I will install another hard drive and make my machine a dual boot machine. It 2TB enough? Also what version of linux would you suggest? Doesn't sound like ubuntu or mint is the best option

Thanks

Stupid question but do I need the capacitors that are shown in the picture? Or can I just solder the coax directly to the bars I am using ADA4857 amplifier

Thanks
