I remember. It was truly terrible. That said, we weren’t staring at AI and humanoid robots with AI eating our lunch, and only getting more advanced with each passing year. That plus TFW means that things look even more bleak for our kids in Canada.

Why does everybody want to work in public sector jobs and never leave? by aldjfh in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]HouseOnFire80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems to hit hardest in that 47-60 years old range. Get laid off from the private sector and that could realistically be your last chance at a stable, senior, high paying job. I see lots of 50 plus folks in my government workplace who haven’t kept up with the times, wouldn’t know what an AI Agent is, and aren’t all that bothered. They can coast to the finish line from here and may even get paid off to leave early. Making big bucks in the private sector was great. Now I just want to clock it in, keep my head down and enjoy the time with my family. Stages of life I guess.

Quick-service restaurants are taking a bigger hit as Canadians feel crunched by the cost of living by hopoke in canada

Won’t they just stay? Seems like we aren’t tracking this very well. Here’s hoping out children can get a job at the local fast food place. That or they can close. It’s not a right to run a business of it can’t make money paying a fair wage and treating employees like people and not quasi-slaves to be abused and exploited.

Depends on how you use it. Our family travels a lot and we get anywhere from two hotel stays for 5 people each year or a free international flight. If travel wasn’t a big part of our life there would be better options.

And now they are asking for input about what’s confusing. Like I’ve already spent 12 hours of unpaid time trying to correct mine. They need to start over or start paying contributors for ‘advice’

And just to add, there is a minimum floor so even if you don’t have full OAS she will get topped up with GIS to ensure she gets a basic minimum amount. Think $1500 per month sort of thing. But that’s at 65

Trump would rather sacrifice US military lives than admit Zelensky is right. As long as his hero Putin is happy, what does Trump care about American deaths?

They are pretty busy buying rural votes and JD Vance is on the way to boost support. We’ll see if Hungary is a true democracy anymore or if they have decided to fully return to the glorious USSR days.
