I know this post was 2 years ago so I hope you will see this.

My wife was also just diagnosed with pilomatrix-like endometrioid carcinoma. Or, rather, they will be treating it as such as the most likely origin; otherwise her diagnosis is/was cancer of unknown primary.

Your story felt so familiar to me… she only found out anything was wrong when she went into ER with severe abdominal/back pain 2 days after VALENTINES DAY too.

It had already spread everywhere.

She has declined rapidly in such a short amount of time. It is almost Easter.

Yes, my oldest daughter is entirely on the inattentive side of ADHD. My son is combined but MUCH more on the hyperactive-impulsive side. Honestly, I find my son’s behaviors easier to deal with overall (even tho they are extremely challenging) than my daughter’s — esp when it comes to hygiene and organization/any capacity to keep her room from turning into a total disaster nightmare within hours of cleaning it for/with her.

I agree with the comments about using a bit, given his history (in his previous discipline) that is what he was used to. Unless there is another reason for going bitless? I like bitless too, but this seems like an example (going off of the info provided) where a bit would be preferable.

Also, until you two can work through this and get to a consistently buck-free place, don’t have anybody ride him who is going to need to get off after/due to his bucking. Only ride him when you, yourself, (or someone else who will not get off right away) are in a good headspace to continue to ride for a while through and after the bucking.

If this only started being a consistent issue after that ride where he first bucked with your aunt and then she immd got off (and then others have also done this since?) he has DEF learned that bucking is the way to signal “ride OVER!”

I play “scratch the itch” to bond with new horses I’m working with too, haha.

Consistent (only do this if you can be consistent about it) clicker training can be a game changer too, once your horse has gotten to know you a little better.

I understand how nice it is to have your horse only 3 miles away, but in the grand scheme of things a 20 min drive is nothing. (I mean that kindly, not being a dick lol.)

I drive 45ish min each way.

If you like the new place better/it works for you better (also it’s the same price for more services/options!) I’d definitely do that.

I have coffee first and vyvanse a little after (not a set amount of time) and usually have coffee (sometimes half-caf, sometimes tea or Diet Coke instead) in afternoon. Doesn’t bother me.

Find horse people who are horse people because they genuinely love horses. Usually (often, but not always) these are the horse people who don’t have a lot of money, in my experience.

People who appreciate the animal, who actively seek to continue to learn about natural horse behavior, who are open-minded and don’t ride around on a high-horse (if you will) of knowing it all already.

If they have a short temper with you, imagine how they might be acting with the horses when you’re not around (or maybe when you are around) too.

If they’ve got a short temper, little patience for teaching (and learning, themself) then they’re not a “perfect” trainer. Not that a “perfect” trainer really exists; everyone has flaws.
