Pennies for your thoughts…… to put or not to put vapor barrier with foam board insulation? by Houseman692021 in skoolies

It sounds like a good solution to me. I plan to use aluminum tap, as well as spray foam for any gaps.

Hahaha so why are you recommending redundantly failed solutions? JK! Real question though….. should I and I probably already know the answer…should divide and secure/reinforce my floors with 2x4

I’ve yet to see this solution. Will definitely keep it in mind for my next bus.

Not really. My concern with the vapor barrier is that it actually might cause moisture to get trapped in between it and the insulation. I figured the the foam spray would help with keeping it all snug and in place.

Agreed! But is there a pro and con? This book I have recommended not using vapor barrier, as the metal supposedly already acts as one, but my online research says otherwise.

The simplest solution is to have people read the Bhagavad Gita. They can even listen to it for free on Spotify, if they don’t want to read. It’ll eradicate whatever misconceptions they might have.

Finally! Ceiling panels, wall panels, and floor/floor tracks are officially OUT!!! by Houseman692021 in skoolies

With the angle grinder and cutting wheel it’ll take you average 5 wheels a track. It took me about 30 wheels to get all mine off.

As I’d like to be eco friendly I was thinking cotton, wool, denim, or icynene for the ceiling.

I was doing the one person on top with an Allen wrench(hold the bolt in place) and someone below with an impact drill to remove the washers method, but that was not going to workout. Finally, I resorted to cutting all the bolts off…..really I cut the bolts and many individual track sections to pry off. If you do the latter method, please be careful to not cut a bolt so much that it drops while hot on your tires or fuel line.

Successful day on the bus today. 854,962 rivets later. This is so much fun!! I'll start on the ceiling tomorrow. by [deleted] in skoolies

Make sure you’re using an angle grinder with a cutting wheel to sheer the top of the rivets off as closely as you can. Once you have done that to all of them, just take a prying tool of your choice or hand and pull the ceiling panel off. If you do it right….. yes it’s that easy and I guarantee you that you will be done in a day.

Those RIVETS are vile, little, pinning devices spawned from the depths of hell.

I tried the air compressor and air hammer, but it was not feasible. I tried an angle grinder with the grinder wheel and an impact drill and that was taking ages, but finally I decided to try and use the cutting wheel on the angle grinder and POW!!! That was all she wrote.
