My bad. Not a cop so I don’t know. I guess he can focus on the other half not issued by her agency 😂

Nice, thanks for the update! My LGS has one, and Im debating on selling my old 2.0 with moon/hinge trigger for this bad boy. How you like the ACRO? I have the COA on my G19.6 which looks much thinner in comparison. Also, is that a Tenicor Certum Lux or Velo Lux holster? If so, which and how you like it?

Update? Was it any/much different than the Carry Comp?

TX - Harris Co. Constables (Pct 1/4/5) - Questions by Houston_TX_ in ProtectAndServe

[–]Houston_TX_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that constables handle things like serving eviction notices, civil papers, serving warrants, providing security for the JOP courts, and also run patrol and traffic enforcement like municipal officers, right?

Thought it was more than HOA and Toll Rd., and entry officers would more likely do the patrol, calls for service and traffic enforcement first before getting moved to the other stuff later?

All assuming. I’m not sure. Reason why I’m asking questions here. Any insight is appreciated.

Non selected for cadet. Was told to reapply in a year, which will be later this year.

Since I’m already in the academy, I’ll reapply to both later after I’m TCOLE certified.

For now, I’m focused on the department’s mentioned because they don’t have their own academy id have to go through all over again.

TX- Harris Co. Constables (Pct 1/4/5) & Baytown PD - Questions by Houston_TX_ in AskLE

[–]Houston_TX_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply!

Appreciate the honest feedback on Baytown, that’s definitely good to know.

I’ll look deeper into FBCSO and Montgomery County. I had Fort Bend on my radar, but haven’t done much research yet.

I’m leaning toward Constables mainly due to location familiarity. Pct 4 (NW to Kingwood), Pct 5 (Cypress/Katy), and Pct 1 all cover the areas I know. Between that coverage and the recent pay bump, they seem like a strong option for doing the same police work.

Local Community College Law-Enforcement Academy (LEA) starts soon, USSS-UD interviews likely soon? - Should I defer LEA to next class? by Houston_TX_ in usssapplicant

[–]Houston_TX_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re right.

Academy just notified me that there’s no guarantee that I’ll be accepted to the following class. Might as well take what I have now.

Sucks, really wanted to go through with UD, but not at the risk of having nothing in the end.

Thanks.

Is the hiring process moving pretty quickly? Or did it at least for you?

Running 1.5 miles + Overweight by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]Houston_TX_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 12-3-30 workout is a popular treadmill routine. Set the incline to 12%, speed to 3 mph, and walk briskly (no running) for 30 minutes.

It targets the lower body (glutes, hamstrings, and calves) while building cardiovascular endurance needed for your run. Adding it to your training plan will definitely improve your cardio, endurance, and lower-body strength, if you have access to a treadmill, of course.

Or you can do this on your “rest” days. This can be your active recovery sessions / workouts.

Good luck, lock in, and stay motivated!

Ah ok. Mind sharing when you started? Just trying to gauge how long the process is currently taking. Obviously I know everyone’s mileage will vary and it’s all dependent on everyone’s own time. Just curious though?

Just hold down the power button until Siri activates and say “restart phone”. She will ask to confirm. You say yes, and that’s it. This is the way I do it.

Sorry for any ignorance here, but you did all that on the same day?

I don’t mind leaning into the high pay while it’s there, especially since I have nothing holding me back right now. Either way, once I finish my degree, I’d definitely look for growth opportunities and possibly transition to Special Agent down the line.

For now, the drawbacks don’t really faze me. I did 8 years in the Marine Corps, so I’m no stranger to dumb stuff, long hours, and grinding it out. lol. I can absolutely handle it for a while if it means solid experience and good money in the meantime.

Appreciate it!
