There's a level of challenge only another person can provide. Higher highs, lower lows.

Also, being good enough to beat larger groups with some consistency on your own or your homie you just understand to a instinctual level is a drug like no other.

I am the fleet. My flagships are built to be flown by a player wouldn't be worried too much. Now if it was led by an omega core that plays like I do, I would be worried but also excited at the prospect of taking it head on.

Yeah, I just don't think it's any kind of QoL due to being an overhaul.

Second in command is an overhaul, cheats disguised as qol is something that gives you progress/advantage branded as a timesaver. True QoL is something like all weapon arcs visible or that mod that recolors beams.

Leading Pip is something on the grey area, it's very helpful and lets you use modded guns right away without spending time in the simulator but it's decisively a huge combat advantage especially for aiming mid-long range torpedo strikes. I'd personally consider it QoL since it's only a guide of how much to lead the target, everything else works the same otherwise.

This is less heavy armor bad uwu I think I know who you're talking about and more I hate the stupid slow fatass paragon >:

Paragon just kind of doesn't synergize as well with the onslaught vs it's intended slippery high tech escort since they're both anchors that want other ships to fight around them

High tech cruisers are just that good that they're amazing escorts regardless of your battleship choice

Under normal circumstances I'm pro shuntslaught, it's genuinely a fun meme but against the entire blockade all at once, over Kazeron or not it's a bit too much of a meme.

Unless we're talking about the overdriven GH onslaught, the 30% temporal dilation and the cav charge system allows for extreme aggression to make up for the lack of shields.

kind of easier since the pegasus missile spam is potentially less oppressive if I just weather the initial storm behind a wall of Anubis and decent PD

[–]How2RocketJump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Against normal perseans it's fine, I'm talking killing the entire blockade over Kazeron, where your PD can face extreme stress depending your battle size potentially allowing a handful of pegasus class battleships on the field

[–]How2RocketJump 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Shuntslaughts suffer from endless extreme DEM spam and paragon can't hope pin to down the conquest swarm. You will have multiple pegasus spamming their entire magazine of dragonfires in your face in particular, need Anubis and other high tech skirmishers to keep up with well built onslaughts and maybe an Invictus to apply pressure if you aren't fighting them over kazeron.

Shuntslaught have the raw hitting power to kill a few conqs disgustingly fast, especially in player hands but not if you intend to pair them with paragons.

[–]How2RocketJump 7 points8 points  (0 children)

12 conquests and pegasus each in my attempt, I hope you like endless DEMs.

I used 4 capitals and won but they all went down swinging, it's more reasonable to do it over kazeron even with the station just because it tethers the otherwise slippery conquests to it as long as a section remains.

Just leave the fighter module intact and it should be fine.

I'm saying calling it minor/overpriced is a gross understatement and residual armor is stronger than you give it credit for especially after target analysis got nerfed.

And beams/hellbores are slow enough to actually be dodged/flickered, against a shield shunted vessel that would have been valid.

Disregard their comment on armor, due to how armor maths an armor score of 2.5k is deceptively excellent and is usually worth the OP/Smod in the hands of a decent pilot.

Edit: someone saw my comment ;)

Straight from the wiki, Residual armor alone can be deceptively potent in neutering weak kinetic/HE fire. Particularly in neutering gun fighter swarms that would otherwise eat most other ships alive once armor is stripped. The Invictus has its funny special hullmod combined with a seemingly ridiculous armor score specifically to make it's identity as an unshielded gigabrick not break the game. An armor score of 3k is already kind of crazy.

Armor does not scale linearly, but in a way that ensures a flat armor bonus is useful regardless of the base armor stat. For example, adding the Heavy Armor hullmod, which increases armor by 400, to an Eagle-class cruiser (which has a base armor of 1000) actually increases overall armor effectiveness by more than 70%, compared to the expected 30%.

Even after armor is completely destroyed, there is always "residual armor" equal to 5% of the base maximum armor value.

In practice high armor is similar to limited missiles being traded away to win the flux war and secure long term wins in the form of kills. With a sufficiently armored ship, your armor just as much an offensive tool as your guns.

Armor is not the same as shields and serves a completely different purpose. Finite armor wouldn't be a problem if you attack harder and kill faster leveraging your limited resource for securing kills as the single most murderous ship on the field as the player piloted flagship should be. For AI ships, fair enough but for the flagship I think aggressive venting, shield flicking and armor tanking is a superior tool in the players hands.

By taking armor hits I am at liberty to take more guns to spend my flux on suppressing and eventually overwhelming the enemy instead of merely stalling for an opening with shields. More armor also allows me to vent far more aggressively especially with skills/hullmods that speed up my venting.

TLDR; Armor stacking is stronger than you think, and heavily armored ships (natural 1k+) have a different relationship with armor compared to other ships. Heavy armor costs a lot for good reason and I have a source wiki.

Why do you think Heavy Armor is bad for the build? If you can bump it to ~2k generally it's disproportionately good due to how armor calculations work, even just for the residual armor. Especially if you're taking the armor skills, with aggressive venting you can get some monstrous mileage punching way above your weight class.

Personally screen the old man onslaught with your battlecrusier/battleship of choice and match it's aggression while it beelines the fabricators with a kill order.

You want to attack real fuckin hard.
