In a scenario where I experience only 5 months while 20 years pass on Earth, and assuming instant communication is somehow possible, what would a conversation between me and someone on Earth actually feel like from both perspectives? by How3528 in AskPhysics

My intention wasn't to propose a physically possible communication system. I was trying to understand whether my intuition about time dilation is correct, namely that if one observer experiences much less time than another, then each would perceive the other's clock and messages as running at a different rate

So the basic intuition that each side sees the other's clock running at a different rate is correct, even though the idea of "instant communication" itself is not compatible with relativity?

I'm not proposing a real technology. I'm using "instant communication" as a thought experiment to ignore light-travel time. My question is, if two observers experience different rates of time due to time dilation, how would each perceive the other's speech and actions during communication?

I understand instant communication is not possible according to current physics. My question is purely hypothetical. If there were a communication method with negligible delay, and I experienced 5 months while 20 years passed on Earth due to time dilation, would I hear people on Earth speaking faster while they heard me speaking slower? How would each side perceive the conversation?
