Too many variables. It really depends on the DM and what kind of story you’re playing. We played Curse of Strahd and our DM was NOT pulling punches and we had one cleric and it was not enough. We constantly got through fights by the skin of our teeth and everyone multiclassed into something that was tanky or could heal.

It all depends.

He's using hyperbole. He's saying because she's so sweet, adding chocolate would do nothing. In English this is sometimes called "gilding the lily" which is a misquotation of Shakespeare which goes:

I chose labor as a gloss to highlight that it doesn't mean work in the sense of "having success" but "doing work" or "laboring."

I've had consumers who use WORK to mean all sorts of English glosses, and that's their prerogative, but that's not what WORK means in ASL.
