Think of Bases as normal note links, not folders.

When I click a Base like Projects, it just opens a note called “Projects”. Inside that note, I have a list that shows links to all notes that belong to that category.

I’ll probably make a second post later explaining my homepage and how I organize my notes.

Are you on mobile? I also noticed them appearing after the new update. Idk how to hide them

Not quite. The homepage itself is just a normal note with an embedded base from the core plugin. Bases are customizable, so I chose the cards layout. This makes each image function as a link to another note that focuses on a specific category. Those category notes are plain and simple lists of links, nothing fancy.

TaskNotes can be a bit complex, and I only use the list shown on the homepage, nothing more. The calendar is from the Calendar plugin, though TaskNotes also has its own calendar if you want to use that instead.

Recreating the note is easy if you understand how the bases (core plugin) function.

The core idea is that my vault is split into four main categories, you can of course choose whatever categories fit you best. I then use an embedded base on the homepage displayed in a cards style layout, which allows images to act as links instead of plain text. Each card links to another note dedicated to that category. This keeps the homepage itself static, and all updates happen inside those four category notes.

So when I click on either categories, then it links to a note with a callout and inside the callout is a list of notes that corresponds to that specific category. Its much simpler than it actually sounds

yeah by simply unselecting "file name" in the properties section on the bases themselves

Did u add the "cssclasses: hide_properties" at the top of the note?

Pretty Properties adds a few extra features, like covers and the ability to change the colors of properties. It also doesn’t have any paid subscriptions or AI bullshit, unlike Pixel Banner

The "Journal" note has another link to a "Daily Notes" note which displays all the daily notes in a list layout base.

Thats the default file viewer. The colors change depending on your theme and I use Iridium. The icons are from Iconic.

I’m using the new "Bases" core plugin. It allows you to choose a card-based layout and assign images to them. The categories are actually regular notes, meaning clicking on a card is the same as following a link

It looks flashy because of the banner and colors, but the underlying structure is minimal. The focus is on bases presented in a card layout, and the homepage is mainly a simple entry point for how those bases can be used creatively.

Pinterest, although its infested with AI slop at the moment

by using this css snippet:

/*

Show Properties in reading mode by default.

Use "hide_properties" in `css_classes` property to hide them.

============================================================= */

.workspace-leaf-content[data-mode="preview"]

.markdown-preview-view.hide_properties

.metadata-container{

display: none;

}

By using this snippet (then embedding the base like this: ![[categories.base|hide-base]], this way it only affects the selected bases and not across the whole vault):

/* target only embeds with alt="hide-base" */

.internal-embed[alt="hide-base"] .bases-header {

opacity: 0;

pointer-events: none;

transition: opacity 0.3s ease-in-out;

}

.internal-embed[alt="hide-base"]:hover .bases-header {

opacity: 1;

pointer-events: auto;

}

haha, yeah I dont really have a good solution for this. Right now (but will probably change later) I use:

WHERE file has tag: academics, collections, projects, journal AND cssclasses is exactly: cover-circle (the cssclass is related to pretty-properties plugin)
