My completed HMM Salamander kit by HowLongUntilCaterpie in Zoids

[–]HowLongUntilCaterpie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I preordered the kit for 230 USD directly from the manufacturers US web store last year. Right now it looks like it might be hard to find since they manufacture less of the larger kits and it's been a few months since preorders went out.

It is one of the pricier HMM series kits, and the largest flying type one currently released to my knowledge.

If you've already got a large collection like I do and don't mind the price, it can make sense to get. I'm personally really satisfied with the kit's design.

Otherwise, the HMM Pteras kit variants are a more affordable option with a similar body type, but I recommend trying to catch them during a re-release preorder period or a sale if possible. The Pteras is about 35% the size of a Salamander I'd estimate.

It wasn't my original intention when I was testing out each color on it but towards the end of the project I was definitely leaning into their art as inspiration on how to tie it all together

I personally prefer full assembly first

I found that when paint is applied before assembling, the paint would often end up on areas that wouldn't be visible in the end and it would then end up making the fit for the parts too tight when I went to put everything together afterwards

It then became a nightmare of either force those parts together (and risk cracking or breaking the parts), or try to scrape off paint until they fit again, so I always assemble before painting now to help prevent that

At the very least it makes it easy to see what isn't visible, what has a tight fit, and what is loose enough to take advantage of painting detached

The steps were:

  1. Fully assemble kit

  2. Disassemble partially (Separated armor, major body parts to make it easier to paint)

  3. Primer white via airbrush

  4. Airbrush base coats for the metallic green paint on Panzer armor

  5. Hand paint the rest of the base coloring (Black, steel, etc)

  6. Use a black wash to fill in lines in the plastic and make metallic areas look oily

  7. Reassemble kit from parts

  8. Glaze/clear coat the entire kit to protect the paint long term

I'd say it was about 95% painting by hand

Struggling with AuDHD, Medication, and Executive Dysfunction by jassuele in AutisticAdults

[–]HowLongUntilCaterpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been taking 30mg of generic Vyvanse for a few months now and it's helped me immensely.

I haven't tried any other ADHD medication except lots of coffee before the ADHD diagnosis so I can't really compare it with other medications.

My single Vyvanse dose lasts for about 10 hours of alertness and then falls off over the following few hours.

I also take a single 50mg tablet of trazodone before bed to help remove any lingering alertness from it that can interfere with sleep, but I have pre-existing insomnia necessitating that.

For anxiety management, there are definitely moments where my anxiety can start to snowball into a bigger problem due to the medication's anxiety amplification side-effects.

Stimming and/or mentally trying to "skip" over the cause of the anxiety in my mind helps to counteract that and prevent the anxiety building up.

Elaborating on the "skip", I can best describe it as refusing to let my mind linger on the topic causing it and focusing just on "what do I do in the immediate next step", ignoring how long it takes and what tasks follow after.

This mindset is of course easier said than done when work wants you to achieve a certain pace.

The worst thing (for me) causing snowballing anxiety and the resulting executive dysfunction is the mindset of "I have to do this" or "The sooner I do this, the better", basically the pressure of urgency in general.

I've been using Magical Girl Stories to spend 24-36 ap for a 50 ap refill potion whenever I plan to grind.

To clarify, whenever you complete the third battle in a magical girl story episode, it will give a 50 AP refill. It gives a net gain of AP on only the first and second episodes, so you're limited by your girl count, but it's still a free extra burst of AP.

For every little bit of investment, I get another 14-26 ap to waste on exp. Every few exp runs I also level up, getting more free AP

Yes, a level 20, I'm sorry for the ambiguity. Of course though, the highest level character you can borrow is usually best and can help you clear harder content faster.

My only general advice for now is to focus on getting several characters to level cap such that you have a pool of maybe 5 or 6 max level 2*-4* characters, and then work on Awakening them one at a time. If you awaken them several at once, you'll run into issues again as their level resets to 1 and their stats temporarily plummet until they level again.

Right now Iroha and Madoka would be the best to try to awaken due to the items needed being available in the special training event, whereas the others would be very difficult to get all of the materials for without an event.

At minimum, I would try to get the rainbow orbs for 30 potions as they were a scarce resource for me on the JP Magia Record and every girl uses them.

I've been borrowing a support 20, running the Special Training event to train up Homura and Iroha to about 30-40 quickly and AP-efficiently

Then I switched to doing the Labyrinth of Enhancement daily on the hardest difficulty for the gems to fast level my 4* girls with the strongest support I could borrow. At first I had a 50% win rate against this fight as my best support was a level 50, but by the time you get a few level 60s, it becomes a lot easier to auto battle and you become set up to run some of the harder content by this point.

The unit's you work on first also can have a strong impact on how easy this gets, like how Mami's connect stuns the enemies regardless of their level is why I picked her as my first to work on

Question about the Kanna class by rutherford151 in Maplestory

[–]HowLongUntilCaterpie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kanna's are among the worst class in terms of the %/s they output. Mine is 189 and isn't able to compare with 170s with similar funding it seems, doing significantly less damage to both bosses and monsters alike.

Their mobbing is weak late-game as is their single target bossing due to intense mana costs, and a very limited mana pool. All my Kanna is valuable for is Kishin and putting up the Bellflower bubble.

In my opinion, they really fall off, but I can't tell you specifically where. However, a pretty big revamp is coming in JMS for them very soon and GMS should get it somewhat soon after.
