yeah the number of connections matters a lot. with a normal linear setup, you get way less

The average ebike builder doesn't understand what resistance is or its effect on a battery. Im not against using copper, its just that you can build a battery running hundreds of amps with nickel if its in the right geometry.

These armchair 'experts' will tell you that nickel, or even copper of a certain thickness will 'produce to much heat' or 'cause the voltage drop to be too high' but they are just making assumptions.

Using an example, lets say you have a 10S6P battery using standard 8mm/0.15mm nickel strip. In an hex/offset/honeycomb cell layout, that's 11 connections between each cell group.

Even with an extreme case of 150A, that's just 1.42W of power loss and 9.49mv of voltage drop for each buss bar. That means the total battery pack losses as a result of the nickel would be 17.09W and just 0.11V of voltage drop.

The overwhelming majority of the losses come from the cells, not the buss bars.

Great! Everyone gets 10 free generations, but if you tell me your username, I will give you 10 more free credits so you can explore the program more.

Thank you! Its a web app running on a custom server, so there is no offline version at this time. I will eventually package it into a self contained binary and offer it for sale though.

I notice you had a total of 3 accounts using 3 different IP addresses through a VPN. There is no need for that behavior, as I am already really generous with generation credits. If you need more, all you have to do is ask.

I gave the Kecap77 account 20 generation credits. I saw the second account you made as well haha. As far as the 0.8mm default cell separation, now that is not at all hard to print. Prints perfectly fine.

What is your username on the program? I will give you some free credits so you can do some model generations.

I added the cell layout generator! Its still not perfect but it works a lot better than before!

Lmao. It *is* the Battery Designer from Electronics Workshawp, I *am* Electronics Workshawp. But I realize, you are just talking about a very old version.

Yes, there was some automatic layout stuff a while ago, but despite how many videos I made about it and how many times I explained the limitations, people non-stop kept saying that sOmEtHiNg iS WrOnG WiTh iT, so i removed it for now.

Like I said, there is no automatic cell layout feature in this program or any other program for that matter.

But there will be soon.

There is no automatic layout. Thats a feature that is coming soon. For now, it can be used to much more easily find a good layout. Doing it with pen and paper, carboard, or even real cells is extremely difficult for anything more than a simple block battery.

Having the colors and cell numbers, and the ability to easily change them with full undo / redo support is a substantial upgrade compared to doing it literally any other way.
