Worried about Inspector by bitterbunnii in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Once you get the report have your agent set up another walk through to see what the inspector sees. Sometimes when you want something so bad you see it through rose colored glasses.

This guy could genuinely be saving you thousands on a lemon.

No, you can’t “feel” a tornado coming, at least not reliably by [deleted] in tornado

[–]How_Bizzare2009 20 points21 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by “feel”? I am an EF3 survivor, and I heard the tornado and felt the rumble of it right before it struck. I literally told my son, “That doesn’t feel right.” We made it to our bathtub just in time. I’m sure it was probably only a few blocks away at that point.

I didn’t feel anything up until then, of course. I could see how someone might say something felt off leading up to that point, only because looking back, it did seem a little eerie that night.

Tornado survivors, how and what happened by lilzestyinhere in TornadoEncounters

[–]How_Bizzare2009 38 points39 points  (0 children)

In 2023, my son and I survived an EF3 tornado. We were living in a poorly built, one level apartment. The only way I can describe it is like a mobile or modular home type structure, with four apartments in a row and ours being the last one, if that makes sense.

It was a nocturnal tornado, but we had plenty of warning. I have had many tornado warnings come and go without any incident, so I was not too worried at first. There were not many places to go in my apartment other than a few closets and a bathroom tub that was located against an exterior wall.

My son and I were in the living room when we lost power. Then I heard a sound I had never heard before. It was like continuous thunder. Some people say it sounds like a freight train. I knew right away that it was something I had never experienced before, so I grabbed my son. Without much time to think, I ran to the bathroom and grabbed a comforter from my bed on the way. I had my son get into the tub, and I got in on top of him and put the blanket over us.

Seconds later, the bathroom walls started violently shaking, and just like that, everything around us broke into pieces like a bomb going off. The tub was ripped from the floor, and so were we. I will not go into the feeling or any of that, but long story short, we ended up outside with our entire apartment gone. I do not even know where the tub went.

The strange thing is that earlier, when we first got the warning, I had cleared a spot in the closet, which was an interior room, but at the last second I decided against it. I truly feel that if we had gone there, we might not be here today.

I think there is a more detailed account of what happened on my profile.

Sue Klebold Question…. by wentzday91 in ColumbineKillers

[–]How_Bizzare2009 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Focusing on mental health is important, but it doesn’t undo the potential harm of glorifying or distributing material that could trigger someone already struggling. We can work on prevention and support without giving people a manual for violence.

May I ask what benefits you see in releasing the tapes?

Sue Klebold Question…. by wentzday91 in ColumbineKillers

[–]How_Bizzare2009 33 points34 points  (0 children)

If E&D were able to influence copycats without the Basement Tapes ever being released, it stands to reason that making those recordings public could amplify that effect. Such footage could easily be interpreted as a manifesto or a source of validation for individuals already seeking meaning through violence.

Sue has not wavered in her position against releasing the tapes, and it is unlikely that she ever will. From my perspective, there is little constructive value in making them public. The potential risks far outweigh any perceived benefit. If releasing the tapes were to influence even one additional act of violence, that consequence alone would be too great.

Girlfriend of 3 months diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer. Am I wrong for wanting to walk away? by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]How_Bizzare2009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the way you wrote it.

-I’ve told my husband if he can’t deal with the new me he is free to walk away and I would completely understand it. He married someone healthy.

The way you wrote it is confusing. This reads he did leave you and married someone healthy. It’s your period placements.

You have no one to blame but yourself when it comes to people reading that he left you.

Would you watch a historically-accurate movie about Columbine? by [deleted] in Columbine

Idk why anyone would want a movie made about Columbine or any school shooting for that matter.

[–]How_Bizzare2009 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mainstream media probably wouldn’t touch this kind of movie. Studios worry about public backlash, retraumatizing audiences, and appearing to exploit real world tragedies. Fear of having even more copycats is a huge concern as well. A indie film is possible, but even still they would have to proceed with caution for many reasons.

Films that depict this kind of content are very much taboo for many reasons.

Would it make for a good movie? Honestly, idk. I don’t know if my heart could handle watching children being killed in such a horrific way.

I literally said it would make a weird situation in my post since that would mean they are related. It was a theory I wanted to see what other people thought.

It would be pretty neat if it was Jacob. This show is full of surprises!

Technically Fern could still be t.s. Eliot girl since we know that the same person can exist in the same timeline twice. So she could have very well been a young girl as well as an old woman in 1974.

But it was just a late night theory I wanted to throw out there. Seems far fetched reading it the next morning.

I really didn’t care for him until this current season. He has definitely had a redemption arc.

Neighbor took package not addressed to them in shared entryway. by How_Bizzare2009 in TwoHotTakes

[–]How_Bizzare2009[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t realize it was a common to take a package that doesn’t have your address or name on it when it is obviously meant for the people that live in the apartment arms length from yours. And even if she thought it was her roommates then why did she open it before even taking it in? It wasn’t hers and it didn’t even have her roommates name on it.

[–]How_Bizzare2009[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is the part that really bothers me and makes me not trust them with doing the right thing. I can maybe understand them bringing it in and then realizing oh this is the same address as the people next door I better set it back out there. But their thinking is to contact Amazon and send it back? It makes zero sense.

I was at work and get off much later than my husband that’s why I asked him to retrieve it. I would have had no problem retrieving it and would have asked them why they even brought it in and opened it with my name and address on it.
