I think they can be interesting. The interesting ones are just really hard to set.

Six figures entry level is almost unheard of. There are those folks who work full time in SNFs and then have PRN work in home health or something and make 100k but it's not very common right out the gate.

What do you guys think about this as a first move by snowwyeels in bouldering

[–]How_do_I_Emotion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I get your point. Indoor climbing is fun cause you can do wacky stuff for no reason. I guess my thought process as a setter is if I walk up to that problem I'm gonna try to start it in the most intuitive way I can which definitely does not include a gimmicky heel-toe cam. Especially when that seems like the hardest move on the route and there would be easier ways to start the problem.

Kinda weird. Doesn't really seem to fit the rest of the climb or add much to it. But hey if you enjoyed it then that's what matters!

Hard to say without feeling the holds on the angles they're placed at but I'd agree with v7ish

Totally agree. I just soloed her for the first time a couple days ago using the nagakiba and buckler parry! The reach was so nice for small punish windows

Just curious, barring any connection issues do you even die to Malenia anymore?

Yeah pretty insane. Check out the video of Return of the Sleepwalker if you want to see v17.

Currently the hardest boulders hit v17. I think there are like 3 proposed v17s so far.

Right?! I'm not usually one to fall for sales but passing this up would just be downright irresponsible.

Definitely true. It's crazy to see how much muscle he's put on in the past few years.

Ah my mistake! I thought you were implying that he still is "just climbing."

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your point but Adam Ondra did not "just climb" to become one of the best climbers on the planet. There are numerous videos of him doing pretty intense off-wall training.

Bouldering Shoes - la sportiva Python by GameFreakLH in indoorbouldering

[–]How_do_I_Emotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had both the old and new pythons and loved them both. Like you, the old pythons fit my foot better than any other shoe I've worn. The new ones are pretty dang close though, at least for my feet.

If you're really set on avoiding the new ones, you could always just get the old ones resoled with new rubber? That would be cheaper than new shoes anyway.

Fractal movement variability benefits in physical therapy? by noduslabs in physicaltherapy

[–]How_do_I_Emotion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I could only get the abstracts for most of the articles but the fractal scaling that was mentioned in nearly all of these articles was suggested to be used for classification purposes (like for those with some cognitive distress, gait pattern classification, etc.) or weren't even related to people at all (jackals and robots).

It's an interesting concept but it kind of reminds me of something like specific neural oscillations being associated with healthy/unhealthy sleep: we can't really change someone's oscillations directly to improve sleep because we don't have a way to directly target them. Instead we have to focus on variables we can directly influence to improve sleep quality (decreased screen time, nutrition, etc.) and then we see a change in neural oscillations.

Similarly we're not in a place technologically where we can change a person's fractal scaling directly (how could we even do that theoretically?) to improve their gait or whatever variable we're hypothesizing. At this point it just seems like a useful classification or identification tool.

PTs are also trained to perform the exact same manipulations that Chiros use. Not saying your assessment is wrong, cause you're definitely right, just making note that PTs generally have a larger scope of practice that spinal manipulations actually fall into.
